Following up on our previous conversation: I don’t see any reason why you shouldn’t use the code from Quick Search, provided that the source is clearly credited (on the GitHub project page, in the code, and somewhere in the app’s menu).
As for ideas, I suggest integrating duckAssist into this, which would result in a highly functional alternative assistant capable of launching itself from the Home button and performing various tasks. There are practically no such apps, especially open-source ones, on Android.
