🔀 Development Workflow

  • develop is the integration branch; main is what runs in production.
  • Work happens on a feature branch and reaches develop through a pull request.
  • When CI passes on a push to develop, the Promote workflow opens a develop to main pull request, merges it and deploys. No manual release step.
  • Both branches are protected: changes land only through pull requests with a green CI.

CI (.github/workflows/ci.yml) runs on every pull request to main or develop and on every push to develop: HTML validation, local link check and browser tests (desktop and mobile Chromium).

Deploy (.github/workflows/deploy.yml) runs on every push to main: it runs CI again and only then publishes to GitHub Pages.

Promote (.github/workflows/promote.yml) runs after CI succeeds on develop. It skips if develop moved on since the tested commit or if main is already up to date.

npm install
npx playwright install chromium
npm run lint:html # HTML validation
npm run test:e2e # browser tests against a local server
