Summary

Separates software licensing from learning/research content licensing.

Software

  • replaces Apache-2.0 with the MIT License for code, scripts, packages, and workflow software.

Learning/research content

  • adds CC BY 4.0 for documentation, prompts, protocols, study materials, intentionally published learning traces, ledger narratives/findings, and similar non-software content.

Clarifies

  • third-party material keeps its original license/terms;
  • file-specific notices take precedence;
  • contributor licensing expectations;
  • mixed code/content files should be split where practical.

Why

The project has two different reusable outputs:

  1. lightweight software/infrastructure, where MIT minimizes integration friction;
  2. open educational/research artifacts, where CC BY 4.0 preserves attribution/provenance while allowing adaptation and commercial reuse.

No learning evidence, hypothesis state, or study records are changed in this PR.
