better notification on totally full disk

Displays logo, then crashes. This is on a MacBook Pro 2017, EOS at Ventura 13.7.8 (22H730), and it may simply be incapable of running the app. I searched but may have missed MacOS version & hardware requirements.

Thanks for the report!

Our install page says "Requirements: macOS 12.4+, x86 or Apple Silicon."
and your OS exceeds that and it does show the logo, so seams like it should work.
Can you find the log file from /Users/Shared/infinidream.ai/Logs and attach it here?

Welp, embarrassing, but maybe there's something useful here in that now there's a place for an error dialog, and logs get clobbered same-day. It just didn't have enough disk space.

Can't send exactly what It said (what's attached is a brief log from a later successful run, where it launched and wasn't happy about space for content downloads later, but valiantly soldiered on) due to overwriting, but it essentially said there was insufficient disk space, then carried on attempting to find things in the json directory, anyway.

As you can see in the log it tried to handle it but this was never properly tested.

Partial fix on branch fix/664-disk-full-launch-crash (commit references this issue).

What's fixed — the launch crash. On a full/unwritable disk the app aborted via uncaught std::/boost::filesystem exceptions. There were three unguarded startup sites, each masking the next:

• Log.cpp — boost::log::add_file_log() creates the Logs/ dir lazily, so it (and every later log write) threw on ENOSPC. Now attaches the file sink only when the dir is writable; otherwise console-only logging.
• PathManager — switched create_directories to the non-throwing error_code overload; added storageReady().
• CacheManager — loadCachedMetadata() bails early when storage isn't ready; cleanupDiskCache()/removeUnknownVideos() skip-with-log instead of throwing.

The app now degrades gracefully (downloads disabled, low-disk HUD) instead of crashing.

New test harness — client_generic/MacBuild/test_disk_full.py. Self-cleaning RAM-disk harness that reproduces this safely (never fills the real disk; moves the data root aside and restores it on exit). The --free knob sets space at launch:

• ./test_disk_full.py — totally full (default --free 0); was SIGABRT, now PASS.
• ./test_disk_full.py --free 512K — nearly full.
• ./test_disk_full.py --free 30M --watch 120 — fills up while downloading.

Future work — better reporting (not done). We should split two failure modes:

1. Fatal — can't create/write logs or read/create settings.json (data root unwritable). Show a dialog and exit. Needs a new PlatformUtils::ShowFatalError (NSAlert / MessageBox / stderr) and a fatal gate after AttachLog(). Open question: screensaver (.saver) mode, where a modal from the legacyScreenSaver engine is unreliable and "exit the app" doesn't apply — likely log + stop quietly there.
2. Degraded — starts fine, just no room to download new dreams. Keep running, suppress downloads, HUD message. (This is the current behavior.)

Deferred because the fatal path is a sizable cross-platform change; the crash itself is fixed.

After some thought and attempts to further fix this, there are a couple of problems:

1. we should not fail with the dialog and exit, we should just show the logo and the some kind of onscreen error. that's because during the screensaver there is no way to exit with a dialog, and sometimes we run in the settings screen.
2. current behavior in the worst case does not crash, but it just leave up an all-black window which is also confusing for users.

however claude was unable to come up with the fix, somehow the window is stuck not drawing anything.
