when i play this at high enough frame rate, eg 22fps or more, then at the end of each dream,
as it is fading out, playback stutters back and forth between two frames.

In good news, while I can replicate this on the 0.16.1 release version on Linux I can also confirm this is fixed in PR #647 which does not exhibit the flickering behaviour for the given playlist when running at high frame rates.

I thought I'd take a look at this ticket because I was working with weird playlist / playback state issues yesterday.

I'll build PR #647 for Windows and post a fixed / not-fixed-on-windows update later. Worst case, should Windows and Mac still exhibit the issue then there's always the potential to compare the Vulkan pattern changes in the PR against the DirectX and Metal rendering setups and follow suit.

In more good news, I've now confirmed that PR #647 (issue 622) also fixes the flickering issue on Windows - so chances are that it'll also fix the issue on Mac, but you'd have to test that as I don't have any Mac hardware.

When confirmed on Mac and PR #647 is merged this ticket can be closed.
