role: Backend & AI Automation Engineer
stack: PHP · Symfony · Elasticsearch · MariaDB · Redis · RabbitMQ · Docker
focus: Ecommerce platforms · Search systems · AI integrations · IoT automation
based: SpainI build backend systems for products that need to handle real complexity — ecommerce platforms with high transaction volume, search experiences powered by Elasticsearch, event-driven architectures with clean domain models, and automation workflows that replace manual work with reliable processes.
Architecturally I work with DDD, Hexagonal Architecture and CQRS in PHP/Symfony. I care about systems that are explicit, testable and maintainable — not clever.
Currently deepening my work at the intersection of backend engineering and applied AI: integrating LLMs into real applications, building automation agents, exploring hybrid and semantic search, and connecting intelligent workflows to physical systems via Home Assistant.
Most of my production work lives in private repositories for ecommerce, billing, search and automation platforms. What is public reflects the range: Symfony/Sylius integrations, Home Assistant components, and ongoing experiments.

Intelligent backend systems APIs, distributed workflows, ecommerce engines, billing, payments, external integrations. Built with PHP, Symfony, DDD and event-driven patterns. |
Search and retrieval Full-text search, relevance tuning, semantic search and vector-based retrieval with Elasticsearch. Moving towards hybrid search and RAG pipelines. |
|
AI and automation Workflow orchestration, content processing, operational automation, internal tooling and assistants powered by LLMs. Honest experiments, not buzzword claims. |
Connected products Home Assistant integrations, ESPHome, IoT sensors and maker projects. Three public components for real devices used daily. Automation that works in the physical world. |
Most production work is in private repositories. These public projects represent real, useful tools.
| Project | What it does | Stack |
|---|---|---|
| SyliusRedsysPlugin | Redsys payment gateway integration for Sylius ecommerce. Production-ready, actively used. | PHP · Symfony · Sylius |
| aqualia-ha | Home Assistant integration that fetches Aqualia water meter consumption and exposes it as sensors. | Python · Home Assistant |
| switchbot-hub-component | Custom Home Assistant component for SwitchBot Hub device control. | Python · Home Assistant |
| niba-ha | Home Assistant custom integration component. | Python · Home Assistant |
Currently exploring and building towards:
- Hybrid and semantic search — dense + sparse retrieval, reranking, Elasticsearch vector search
- RAG pipelines — retrieval-augmented generation with Elasticsearch as the knowledge backend
- LLM integrations in Symfony — clean agent patterns, tool calling, prompt management
- Workflow automation — orchestrated pipelines that replace manual operational tasks
- MCP tooling — Model Context Protocol implementations and integrations
- Intelligent home automation — Home Assistant + LLM integrations for context-aware automations
This is an active direction, not a completed portfolio. Code and experiments will be published as they mature.

- Solve the problem before adding complexity
- Explicit domain models over implicit conventions
- Reliable automation is better than clever automation
- AI with sources, validation and fallbacks — not hallucination as a feature
- Systems that are useful outside the demo
- Maintainable architecture outlasts clever code
- AI-enhanced search platform — hybrid retrieval and semantic reranking on top of Elasticsearch
- Automation tools for ecommerce operations and advertising integrations
- Smarter Home Assistant workflows with LLM context awareness
- Developer tooling powered by LLMs for internal productivity
- MCP server experiments in PHP
GitHub is the primary public presence for now. Feel free to open an issue on any repository.
