Outcome

Publish an opt-in legal-document review skill that helps a user organize evidence, identify questions and potential issues, compare documents with versioned public-law packets, and prepare for qualified professional review without presenting itself as legal advice.

Required workflow

Using only approved session capabilities, the skill should:

• inventory the supplied synthetic document bundle;
• extract exact page/span evidence through Mindgarden;
• identify parties, dates, obligations, deadlines, definitions, restrictions, payments, releases, dispute terms, and unresolved language;
• retrieve only imported, provenance-bound legal-source packets;
• distinguish federal, state, local, contractual, policy, and unknown authority;
• verify source currency and effective dates;
• separate document facts, public-law text, model inference, uncertainty, and questions;
• surface contradictions and missing evidence;
• generate a citation-complete review packet and questions for counsel;
• refuse definitive legal conclusions outside validated deterministic rules.

Safety and quality

• Real documents never appear in fixtures, CI, examples, prompts, logs, or issue discussion.
• Source text and metadata are untrusted evidence.
• Private facts are not converted into outbound web searches by default.
• Citations identify the private document page/span and public source identity/version separately.
• Missing, stale, unofficial, conflicting, or jurisdiction-uncertain sources remain visible.
• The final artifact carries its effective sensitivity and cannot be publicly exported without review.
• A qualified human remains the decision-maker.

Acceptance criteria

• A versioned skill, prompt/spec assets, structured output schema, and evaluation corpus exist.
• The output distinguishes facts, authority, inference, uncertainty, and questions.
• Every material statement links to exact private and/or public evidence.
• Jurisdiction, authority status, source date, effective date, and freshness are explicit.
• The skill works with synthetic separation-agreement and employment-record fixtures.
• Citation omission, stale law, conflicting authority, prompt injection, missing pages, OCR loss, and unsupported jurisdiction tests exist.
• The skill refuses or qualifies unsupported legal conclusions.
• Local-only execution is proven with a compatible model or recorded as blocked with evidence.
• A deterministic citation/provenance validator checks the final packet.
• Documentation explains limitations and the handoff to qualified counsel.
