Prerequisites

• Elixir ~> 1.15
• Flutter SDK ^3.11
• PostgreSQL 16 with PostGIS extension
• Docker (for local database)

Getting Started

Database

cd fence
docker compose up -d

This starts a PostGIS 16 container on port 5433.

Backend

cd fence
mix setup          # deps.get + ecto.create + ecto.migrate
mix phx.server     # starts on http://localhost:4000

Mobile

cd mobile
flutter pub get
flutter run

Environment Variables

The backend reads these at runtime (see fence/config/runtime.exs):

For production, copy fence/.env.production.example to fence/.env.production and fill in the values.

Testing

Backend

Deployment

Production uses Docker Compose (fence/docker-compose.prod.yml):

docker compose -f docker-compose.prod.yml up -d

This runs the Phoenix app (port 4000) and PostGIS database behind a health check.

CI/CD is handled by GitHub Actions:

• check-backend — compile warnings, format, credo, sobelow, deps audit, tests
• check-mobile — flutter analyze + test
• deploy-backend — production deploy
• build-and-distribute — mobile build & distribution
