Choose a tag to compare

@epikarus epikarus released this 29 Jul 05:38

First public release of Audio Switch Notifier — a Windows tray utility that shows a
Win11-style acrylic flyout whenever your default audio output device changes.

Download

Grab AudioSwitchNotifier.exe below and run it. No installer, no setup.

The build is self-contained — the .NET 8 runtime is bundled inside the executable, so
there is nothing to install first.

Requirements: Windows 10 or 11, 64-bit.

Windows 11 hides tray icons it hasn't seen before. If you don't see it after launching,
click the ^ chevron on the taskbar. To pin it:
Taskbar settings → Other system tray icons → Audio Switch Notifier → On.

What's in it

Toast notifications

  • Win11-style acrylic flyout with rounded corners and a slide-in animation from the taskbar
  • Dismisses itself when you change the volume, so it never covers Windows' own volume OSD
  • Six screen positions, adjustable duration (1.5–8s) and background opacity
  • Follows your system light/dark theme

Device management

  • Per-device nicknames and icons (speaker, headphones, monitor, TV, Bluetooth, USB, generic)
  • Settings for disconnected devices are remembered, not discarded

Output cycling

  • Assign a global hotkey to cycle the default output device
  • Pick exactly which devices are in the rotation

Notification sound

  • Optional cue on switch, with a custom sound file and a configurable start delay for
devices that are slow to wake (USB, HDMI, Bluetooth)

Tray

  • Icon reflects the current device type and repaints for light/dark taskbars
  • Optional start with Windows
