Summary

  • Return null when franc reports und for an ambiguous voice-cloning prompt.
  • Allow the existing reference-audio language detection fallback to run for prompts such as digit sequences or lists of names.
  • Preserve the unsupported-language error for languages that were actually detected but are not supported.
  • Add regression assertions for both behaviors.

Validation

  • Reviewed the existing voice-cloning flow and test suite.
  • Automated tests have not been executed in this environment; CI should validate the change.

Summary by CodeRabbit

  • Documentation
    • Clarified that ambiguous voice prompts, such as names or numbers, defer to the reference audio’s language when the prompt language cannot be determined. Detected language codes without a supported mapping continue to be rejected. This documents how language selection works for multilingual voice cloning; supported language coverage is unchanged.

Walkthrough

This change adds comments about ambiguous voice prompts and regression assertions for undetermined and unsupported prompt-language codes.

Comments describe how ambiguous prompts defer to the reference-audio language. Test assertions cover an "und" code returning null and an unsupported detected language following the rejection path.

The production change appears localized, but the new regression test does not reliably protect the fallback and rejection behaviors.

Minor · Functional Correctness · Quick win

Make the regression test execute the language-selection behavior.

assert.match(api, ...) only checks source text. It does not call detectVoicePromptLanguage or franc. The test can pass while "und" still reaches the unsupported-language path or an unmapped code stops throwing. Test the helper through a test seam, or exercise the handler with mocked detection, and assert null plus UnsupportedVoiceTargetLanguageError. (raw.githubusercontent.com)
