Closes #16.

Adds ccswap codex redeem-reset NUM|EMAIL [--yes] [--json] to explicitly redeem one banked reset for a saved ChatGPT account.

The command selects the earliest-expiring available card before confirmation, shows its expiry in the default-No prompt, then sends exactly that card's ID. It refuses to spend an unspecified card when card details are unavailable.

  • Never runs from switch, auto or the TUI. Non-interactive use requires --yes; so does --json.
  • The prompt holds no store lock. The POST holds the switch lock and checks that the saved account has not changed.
  • Exactly one redemption POST; no retries, including after HTTP 401. Existing inactive-login recovery is used only for preflight/usage reads.
  • Usage is read again afterward. A successful POST remains reported as accepted but unconfirmed if that read or its local storage/lock operations fail.
  • nothing_to_reset keeps the card; no_credit, already_redeemed and unknown codes report failure. Uncertain outcomes tell the user to check usage before another attempt.

Validation: full pytest suite on Linux with Python 3.12 and 3.13: 2796 passed, 3 skipped each. Regressions cover selected-card consent, locking, refusals, no POST retry, response codes and confirmation failures. Independent read-only security review completed with its findings fixed; git diff --check and gitleaks passed. No real logins or live redemption calls were used. GitHub CI passes on Linux, Windows and macOS (test, test-windows, macos-keychain).

ccswap shows banked Codex resets per account but could not redeem one,
so using a reset on a saved account meant logging into it first.

`ccswap codex redeem-reset NUM|EMAIL [--yes] [--json]` redeems one card
for an active or inactive saved ChatGPT account, through the same
consume endpoint and payload as Codex's own reset action. It shows the
account's usage and asks first; --yes skips the prompt and is required
with --json, and a non-interactive run without --yes is refused.

The earliest-expiring card is picked before the switch lock is taken;
the POST itself runs under the lock with a fresh idempotency key. The
only retry is after a 401 on an inactive account whose token was just
refreshed, with the same key and card. Timeouts, truncated responses and
other errors report the outcome as unknown and never retry. Success is
confirmed only when a fresh usage read shows fewer banked resets.

Nothing redeems implicitly: switch, auto and the TUI are unchanged.

Walkthrough

The Codex CLI adds an explicit command to redeem one banked reset for a saved account. It selects an available card, requires consent where applicable, sends a single consume request, and checks usage afterward to confirm the result.

Changes: Explicit Codex reset redemption

Layer / File(s) Summary
Command and documentation
src/claude_swap/cli.py, docs/commands.md, docs/codex.md, CHANGELOG.md, tests/test_cli.py
The CLI registers codex redeem-reset, requires --yes with --json, and passes the account and options to the switcher. Documentation describes card selection, consent, and uncertain outcomes.
Card selection and one-time redemption
src/claude_swap/codex.py, src/claude_swap/codex_usage.py, tests/test_codex.py, tests/test_codex_usage.py
The switcher checks usage, selects an available reset card, prompts when needed, and consumes the selected card under a lock. The usage module lists cards and sends the consume request without retrying. Tests cover preflight checks, consent, account changes, and request safety.
Usage confirmation and result reporting
src/claude_swap/codex.py, tests/test_codex.py
After a reset response, the switcher rereads usage. It reports confirmation only when the available-credit count decreases, and handles delayed or unavailable confirmation separately.

A truncated confirmation response can leave a successful redemption reported as a traceback rather than accepted but unconfirmed. Fix this narrow failure path before merging, or accept it with care to check usage before retrying.

Explanation

Issue #16 is the only active direct target. Its coding requirements are met at the reviewed head.

  1. Explicit command: codex redeem-reset NUM|EMAIL [--yes] [--json] is added in cli.py. The redeem_reset method in codex.py is called only from this command. The codex.py diff shows no changes to switch, auto, or TUI paths.
  2. Usage display and consent: _print_redeem_usage shows current usage before the prompt. _confirm_redeem asks [y/N] with the card expiry. EOF, KeyboardInterrupt, and any answer other than y/yes cancel the redemption.
  3. --yes rules: --json without --yes is refused. Non-interactive use without --yes is refused through sys.stdin.isatty().
  4. Earliest-expiring card: list_reset_credits returns available cards sorted by expiry with undated cards last. redeem_reset selects cards[0]. If the list is empty, it refuses with 'Reset card details unavailable; nothing was redeemed'.
  5. Same consume endpoint: consume_reset_credit posts to the /consume route of the reset-credits endpoint, as the issue requests.
  6. One POST under the switch lock: _consume_reset runs inside FileLock(self.lock_file). It checks that the saved record is unchanged before the POST. The caller makes exactly one consume_reset_credit call. There is no retry loop. HTTP 401 on consume raises an error and does not refresh or retry.
  7. Confirmation by re-reading usage: after code reset, _fetch_redeem_usage is called again. confirmed is True only when the remaining integer count is lower than before.
  8. Active and inactive accounts: _redeem_auth reads the live auth file for the active account and the stored auth for inactive accounts.

Residual uncertainty: the body of consume_reset_credit in codex_usage.py was truncated at the inspection limit. Its no-retry behavior rests on the AI-generated summary and on the single call site in codex.py. Tests for no POST retry are reported but were not run.

Note: the first commit message describes a retry after an inactive-account 401. The reviewed code does not retry consume. The current PR description and the code agree on no retry, so this does not change the verdict.

Full details: Out of Scope Changes check

Explanation

Every changed area supports the redeem-reset command from issue #16.

  • cli.py: adds the redeem-reset subcommand and its option validation. It forwards to CodexAccountSwitcher.redeem_reset.
  • codex.py: adds redeem_reset, its helpers, and the required imports (uuid, ClaudeSwitchError, and the reset-credit helpers). The diff shows no unrelated edits.
  • codex_usage.py: adds list_reset_credits and consume_reset_credit, which the command needs. Existing usage parsing is not reworked in the part read.
  • tests (test_cli.py, test_codex.py, test_codex_usage.py): cover the new command and its refusal, locking, and response-code behavior.
  • CHANGELOG.md and docs (codex.md, commands.md): document the new command.

No change was found that is unrelated to issue #16. Unread hunks in codex_usage.py and the test files are covered by the AI-generated summaries only.

Full details: Docstring Coverage

Explanation

Docstring coverage is 20.63% which is insufficient. The required threshold is 80.00%. Docstring coverage is scoped to functions touched by this diff. Analyzed 63 functions across 6 files. (3 skipped: 3 unsupported.)

Resolution

Write docstrings for the functions missing them to satisfy the coverage threshold.
