Repository navigation
feat: address a pull request by its URL as well as its number - #39
Conversation
Every pr command addressed by NUMBER now also accepts the URL Forgejo prints for that pull request, which carries the repository with it and makes --repo unnecessary. A caller holding a URL had to parse OWNER/REPO and the number out of it first, so every such caller grew its own parser. The URL supplies the repository and the number and nothing else. Its host is deliberately not adopted as the base URL: routing a credentialled request at whatever host arrived in an argument is the hazard CROSS_ORIGIN_REDIRECT already refuses, and it would break every host reached through a forward or a proxy, where the printed URL and the reachable one legitimately differ. A scheme is the discriminator, so anything without one still reaches parsePullNumber and fails with the message it always did. A --repo that contradicts the URL is a usage error rather than a guess; an ambient FORGEJO_REPOSITORY is simply overridden by the explicit URL. The web form, the /api/v1/repos/ form, a host under a path prefix, and a trailing /files or /commits sub-page all resolve to the same target.

📝 WalkthroughWalkthroughPull request commands now accept numeric identifiers or pull request URLs. URL targets provide the repository and number, validate repository conflicts, override ambient repository context, and continue routing through the configured Forgejo server. Estimated code review effort: 3 (Moderate) | ~25 minutes Merge Risk: 🟡 Moderate · up to Malformed pull-request URLs can be reproduced in validation errors, potentially exposing credentials or other sensitive URL content in terminal output, structured responses, or logs across the affected commands. The request destination remains controlled by configuration, but this bounded security issue should be fixed or explicitly accepted before merging. What this adds
Every

The URL supplies the repository and the number and nothing else. Its host is deliberately not adopted as the base URL, for two reasons:
CROSS_ORIGIN_REDIRECTalready exists to refuse. A pasted URL is untrusted input.A test pins it: a URL naming

Two explicit addresses disagreeing means one is wrong, and guessing would act on a repository the caller did not name.FORGEJO_REPOSITORYis ambient rather than explicit, so an explicit URL simply overrides it.pulls/Npair, so a repository namedpullscannot capture the match, and a host served under a path prefix resolves correctly./pulls/42/filesand/pulls/42/commitsare what a reviewer actually copies out of a browser.%2f,%5c) survives normalization and is refused by the existingparseRepositoryhazard check. Both are pinned by tests.Contract
Additive: a positional that accepted one form now accepts two, no output field changed, no flag renamed. Every previously valid invocation behaves identically.
Verification
npm run checkpasses: lint, typecheck, 247 tests (237 before, 10 added), smoke.npm run gen:skillregenerated; the byte comparison incheckpasses.Live lanes: neither was run. I have no credential for a Forgejo host these lanes may mutate, and they mutate the repository they point at. Per CONTRIBUTING I am saying so rather than guessing.
What I did verify, against a real Forgejo 15.0.6+gitea-1.22.0 instance read unauthenticated over a loopback forward:
That run is itself the proxy case the design note above describes: the printed URL's host and the reachable host differ, and the request correctly went to the configured one. It exercises real response shapes but not the mutating lanes, so it is weaker evidence than lane 15 and should not be read as equivalent.
