[#464]: Add manager reset-selected for chapter assignments - #466
Adds PATCH /projects/{projectId}/chapter-assignments/reset-selected so managers can restore selected chapters to not_started for Maestro ownership fixtures (fluent-mobile #607). Only draft and peer_check rows reset; other statuses return 409. Clears assignedUserId, peerCheckerId, and submittedTime, and writes status history through updateChapterAssignment.
Reviewer checklist
GitHub issue linked in Details (Refs #NNN. Do not use Closes / Fixes / Resolves)
How to verify steps completed or valid waiver noted below
Reset takes lockProject before assignment FOR UPDATE so lock order matches submitChapterAssignment (project, then assignments)
Service and route unit tests for ok / 404 / 409 (complete + not_started) / limit / 403 / 200
PGlite *.integration.test.ts for status clear, status history, 409 no-op, and re-claim
Assignment history on unassign
Status history alone is enough for this endpoint. recordUserAssignmentChanges only inserts assignee-history rows when the new assignee is non-null, so clearing drafter/peer checker leaves no user-assignment history row — the same behavior as other clear paths. Reset still writes chapter_assignment_status_history via updateChapterAssignment → recordStatusChange.

Testing
Ran on 98beec99887a1e9b56c3f06f16510dd005802670 in isolated worktree: npm run verify (lint, format, typecheck, tests, deadcode, docs structure, build). 1520 passed, 15 skipped (148 files passed | 2 skipped).
How to verify
Run npx vitest run src/domains/projects/chapter-assignments/project-chapter-assignments.service.reset-selected.test.ts src/domains/projects/chapter-assignments/project-chapter-assignments.route.reset-selected.test.ts src/domains/projects/chapter-assignments/project-chapter-assignments.reset-selected.integration.test.ts.
As a manager, PATCH /projects/{id}/chapter-assignments/reset-selected with draft/peer_check ids and confirm they become not_started with cleared assignees.
Expected: Non-managers get 403. Wrong project ids get 404. Complete (or other non-resettable) statuses get 409.
Follow-ups
Deploy before merging fluent-mobile #607, which calls this endpoint for claim baseline fixtures.
Summary by CodeRabbit
New Features
Users with project-level content assignment permission can reset selected chapter assignments from Draft or Peer Check to Not Started. Reset assignments are unassigned and their submission time is cleared.
Reset requests require at least one unique assignment ID.
Bug Fixes
Reset requests now report a conflict when an assignment is in an unsupported status, and a not-found error when an assignment does not belong to the project.
Restore draft and peer_check chapters to not_started with cleared assignees so Maestro ownership fixtures can reclaim a stable baseline without rotating chapters.

Walkthrough
Adds an authorized endpoint to reset selected chapter assignments in a project. It validates assignment IDs, permits resets from DRAFT and PEER_CHECK, clears assignment fields, and returns updated progress. Other statuses produce a conflict response.
Changes: Chapter assignment reset

Summary
Reset request and error contract src/domains/projects/chapter-assignments/project-chapter-assignments.types.ts, src/lib/types.ts
Adds a non-empty, unique list of positive assignment IDs and a CHAPTER_ASSIGNMENT_NOT_RESETTABLE error mapped to HTTP 409.
Resets eligible assignments to NOT_STARTED, clears assignees and submission time, and returns progress. Tests cover status and project checks, request limits, updates, status history, and subsequent claiming.
Adds the PATCH route with project-scoped content:assign authorization. Route and policy tests cover permission checks and response mapping. Permission documentation and an ESLint suppression are updated.
No actionable merge-blocking issue remains in the reviewed reset endpoint. It is ready to merge after normal checks.

Knip treated the alias of assignSelectedResponseSchema as new dead code. The route now reuses the assign-selected response schema directly.

Thanks for 2a50ff3. The @/db mock and its suppression entry are gone: the PR now adds no entries to eslint-suppressions.json, and its only change there is the trailing newline. Typecheck, lint and the reset-selected tests all pass locally on 2a50ff3.
The endpoint matches the #464 contract: 404 before 409, the limit returns 400, the error shape matches assign-selected, and the whole request rolls back on failure. Re-claim works in the code. The reset sets assignedUserId to null, which also clears hasClaimConflict and claimConflictUserId, and claimIfUnassigned only needs not_started with no assignee.
Requesting changes for the items below. The bar is that every code standard is met and the PR adds no new suppressions.
Required
The new row lock takes locks in the opposite order from submit, so the two can deadlock. See the inline comment on findStatusesByIds. The fix is to call lockProject(tx, projectId) first, the same way submitChapterAssignment does.
FA-R11: partial-cast fixtures. Replace them with factories. See the inline comments.
FA-R11: the central rule runs only against mocks. Add a PGlite *.integration.test.ts that runs in npm test, following chapter-assignments.claim-conflict.integration.test.ts. It should seed draft, peer_check and complete rows, call resetSelectedChapters, and assert:
draft and peer_check rows end up not_started, with assignedUserId, peerCheckerId and submittedTime all null.
A chapter_assignment_status_history row is written for each reset.
A request containing a complete row returns 409 and leaves every row unchanged.
A reset row can be claimed again (claimIfUnassigned succeeds). This covers the "A reset chapter can be claimed again" acceptance criterion, which currently has no test.
FA-R10. The sequential for…await loop needs a comment giving the reason (all updates share one tx), or it should run with Promise.all.
Please address or explain in the PR body
Assignment history on unassign. The issue asks for "status/assignment history". Only status history is written, because recordUserAssignmentChanges (chapter-assignments.transitions.ts:44-63) only writes a row when the new assignee is non-null, so clearing the drafter or peer checker leaves no record. Either record the unassignment or state in the PR that status history alone is enough.
Test coverage gaps.
Add a route-level 404 case.
The 409 case tests only complete. Add at least one more status, such as not_started.
PR checklist. "Acceptance criteria met" is ticked, but two criteria have no test: "reset chapter can be claimed again" and "status history is written".
Optional
ChapterAssignmentPolicy.resetStatus is identical to assignAll. Keeping a separate name is fine, since the issue asks for it, but it could delegate to assignAll so the two can't drift apart.
resetSelectedChapters follows the same steps as assignSelectedChapters: limit check, project-membership check, update loop, then a filtered progress read. A shared helper would remove that repetition.
The CodeRabbit docstring-coverage check comes from CodeRabbit's default settings, not a repo standard. Ignore it.

Optional: this stub copies part of the real middleware.
Stubbing @/middlewares/authenticate is a fair way around FA-L7, because the real middleware reads activeOrgId straight from @/db. But the stub reimplements part of authenticate, and it hard-codes activeOrgId to 1.
That's fine for this PR. If other route tests start doing the same, move the stub into a shared helper in src/test/utils. The longer-term fix is to move the activeOrgId lookup behind a repository, in the same spirit as #425.
The reason will be displayed to describe this comment to others. Learn more.
Acknowledged — leaving the authenticate stub as-is for this PR (optional nit). Happy to extract a shared helper if more route tests need the same FA-L7 workaround.
Take lockProject before assignment FOR UPDATE so reset matches submit lock order, tighten status typing/fixtures, and prove history plus re-claim on PGlite.
