Fern Editor (the visual editor in the Fern Dashboard) can now create changelog entries directly from the UI: hover a changelog in the sidebar, select Add entry, pick the changelog, date, and optional title, and the Editor creates the dated YYYY-MM-DD.mdx file and opens it for editing. This matters because changelog updates previously required knowing the dated-filename convention and adding files through a pull request, which kept non-technical authors from contributing release notes.

Implements docs for: feat(editor): add changelog entry creation (fern-api/fern-platform#14562) — https://github.com/fern-api/fern-platform/pull/14562

Pages changed

  • fern/products/docs/pages/component-library/writing-content/visual-editor.mdx — new "Add a changelog entry" section; capability list in "Open the Editor" mentions changelog entries.
  • fern/products/docs/pages/navigation/changelogs.mdx — one sentence under "Write a changelog entry" linking to the Editor section.
  • fern/products/docs/pages/changelog/2026-09-11.mdx — new Docs changelog entry (developer-tools, navigation).

Summary

Validation: pre-commit run --files <changed> (Vale: 0 errors; remaining warnings are on pre-existing lines) and fern check --warnings (0 errors).

Consider using 'drag' instead of 'drag and drop'.
