+- **Updates ask before downloading** — Wake used to start fetching a new version the moment it found one, so the first thing you saw was a download already in progress. Now it tells you a version is available and waits for you to press the button. Everything after that is unchanged

+- **The progress banner named the wrong version** — while downloading, it showed the version you already had rather than the one being fetched
+- **Nothing happened when a download failed immediately** — pressing download while offline left the screen completely unchanged, as if the button were broken. Wake now shows that it is preparing, and tells you when it fails so you can try again
+- **Opening Settings wiped the download state** — a download in progress, or one finished and waiting for a restart, would fall back to the initial prompt
+- **A dismissed notice came back** — closing the banner mid-download only hid it until the next progress update
