Following the instructions as-written results in a binary that is too large. I did have to add RGB_MATRIX_ENABLE = yes to the rules.mk due to an error trying to compile without it.
Even disabling RGB_MATRIX_ENABLE, VIALRGB_ENABLE, and ENCODER_MAP_ENABLE still results in a binary too large.
