Path not set for TeX Binaries on Mac

Howdy,

Most Mac folks install MacTeX (which installs a full TeX Live) which sets an indirect link, /usr/texbin, to the presently active TeX binaries. Apparently TikZ Editor doesn't pick up the set PATH so you must explicitly use /usr/texbin/pdflatex for your preview. A better thing to do is to add a preference for the path to the TeX binaries which defaults to /usr/texbin.

I wish you gave more information.

Is this a problem with TikZ-Editor alone or a system wide problem you are having. If you are using El Capitan please read http://www.tug.org/mactex/elcapitan.html and the `Updating For El CApitan' document linked there. the TikZ-Editor is not covered but if you send me information about how to set the path to the TeX binaries in that applications (with a screen shot, please) I'll add it to that document.

Is this a problem with TikZ-Editor alone or a system wide problem you are having. If you are using El Capitan please read http://www.tug.org/mactex/elcapitan.html and the `Updating For El CApitan' document linked there. the TikZ-Editor is not covered but if you send me information about how to set the path to the TeX binaries in that applications (with a screen shot, please) I'll add it to that document.

Hi,

I was just endorsing your suggestion of adding a preference for setting PATH. I've looked it up, and it's just a matter of setting the env variable in the the QProcess that executes the preview command. But I guess it's too much trouble to go into, when you can just specify the full path to pdflatex...
