Summary

The author is retaining commercial rights to crosscheck-agent. Going forward the software is source-available, non-commercial:

  • LICENSE replaced with verbatim PolyForm Noncommercial 1.0.0 text (from polyformproject.org), prefixed with copyright header + commercial-licensing pointer, footer noting prior MIT history.
  • COMMERCIAL-LICENSES.md (new) records pre-existing commercial grants. Seeded with a perpetual-unless-revoked grant to VARDR Partners + subsidiaries — revocable by Frank at any time, with or without cause, via email OR a commit removing/amending the section. Includes a 90-day commercial-use wind-down on revocation; pre-existing sublicenses to end customers continue but no new ones after revocation date.
  • README.md License section rewritten in plain English; points to COMMERCIAL-LICENSES.md; documents prior MIT history.

Important legal reality: the MIT grant on historical snapshots (through commit `7b54d80`) remains in effect for anyone who obtained the software while it was MIT-licensed. This relicense governs all commits from this PR forward.

No code changes; suite unaffected.

Test plan

  • LICENSE text matches the canonical PolyForm NC 1.0.0 from polyformproject.org
  • No source/scripts/config files needed updating (grep confirmed no inline MIT headers)
  • No package metadata (no pyproject.toml / setup.py / package.json)

…rights to VARDR Partners

The author (Frank Speiser, copyright holder) is retaining commercial
rights to crosscheck-agent. Going forward, the software is
source-available under the PolyForm Noncommercial License 1.0.0 —
non-commercial use is permitted (personal, research, internal eval,
qualifying non-profit / educational / government orgs); commercial use
requires a separate license.

The MIT grant on historical snapshots (through commit 7b54d80) remains
in effect for anyone who obtained the software while it was MIT-
licensed. This relicense governs all subsequent commits.

Changes:
- LICENSE: replaced verbatim MIT text with the verbatim PolyForm
Noncommercial 1.0.0 text from polyformproject.org, prefixed with
the copyright header + commercial-licensing pointer, and a footer
  noting the prior MIT history.
- COMMERCIAL-LICENSES.md (new): records pre-existing commercial license
grants. Seeded with a perpetual-unless-revoked grant to VARDR
Partners + its subsidiaries — revocable by the copyright holder at
any time with or without cause via email notice OR a commit removing
  / amending the section. Includes a 90-day commercial-use wind-down
on revocation; sublicenses already issued continue to their existing
terms but no new sublicenses post-revocation.
- README.md: updated the License section to explain the new model in
plain English, point to COMMERCIAL-LICENSES.md, and document the
  prior-MIT history.

No code changes; full suite (38 scripts) unaffected.
