…wner migration
The backup fingerprint includes a volume's creation time, so a volume made
again reads as new state. The owner migration makes every earner volume
again with the same data, and every confirmed Mysterium or ProxyBase wallet
backup turned to "changed" on the Payouts page. The migration now keeps the
replaced volume's creation time in a label on the new one, and the
fingerprint reads it.
Owner migration now preserves a volume’s original creation time in a label. State fingerprints use that timestamp after volume recreation. The upgrade instructions also clarify which migrated payout backups need confirmation.
Changes: Volume timestamp preservation
Layer / File(s)
Summary
Record and restore volume timestamps app/constants.py, app/owner_migrate.py, tests/test_owner_migrate.py
Migration records the original volume creation time and adds it to restored volume labels when available. A test checks that the recreated volume retains the timestamp and its state fingerprint stays unchanged.
Use preserved timestamps for fingerprints app/orchestrator.py, tests/test_backup_confirmations.py, UPGRADING.md
state_id prefers the preserved timestamp label and falls back to Docker’s CreatedAt. A test checks the fingerprint behavior. The upgrade instructions describe Mysterium address retention and payout backup confirmation, including the exception for backups migrated from versions 1.73.0 or 1.73.1.
geiresx/CashPilot#21: Adds the owner migration that recreates earner volumes; this change preserves their original creation times.
Merge Risk: Minimal · up to a63ef
No actionable merge-blocking risk is established for the backup-confirmation change. It is mergeable after normal checks.
Security architecture risk: Low · up to a63ef
The change preserves backup identity through volume migration while retaining backup verification and existing API permissions. No new remotely reachable bypass was established. Remaining uncertainty concerns interrupted or manually coordinated deployments outside the inspected startup sequence.
Retained concerns
No architecture-level concerns identified.
Security review details
Security Blast Radius
inferred — The direct effect is backup-confirmation continuity for services using affected named volumes on a worker. Changing the identity label requires Docker volume-creation authority; the inspected confirmation and export APIs do not provide a caller-selected fingerprint input.
Trust Boundaries and Controls
observed — Coordinator confirmation and export operations require the owner role. Worker backup export separately verifies its active API key and computes the fingerprint locally. The new metadata source does not replace these authentication controls.
Resilience and Maintainability Implications
inferred — Although the original identity label exists before restore verification finishes, the normal migration path removes service containers first and recreates them only after all required restores succeed. A failed restore therefore does not, by itself, establish a newly exposed live fingerprint: normal fingerprint producers require a service container, and inspected startup definitions additionally gate proxy startup. Existing age-only handling when no fingerprint is available predates this PR.
