What happens

Esc does not close these, while a click outside does:

  • the HUD language menu (EN) — keyboard focus stays on the trigger (focus ring visible), arrow keys don't move in the list either;
  • the editor's OpenScreen wordmark menu (arrow keys do move/wrap inside it);
  • the colour popover of an arrow annotation.

Dialogs (Export, Edit clip, Open project, Keyboard Shortcuts, AI settings) do close on Esc.

Expected

Esc closes any open menu or popover (checklist lines 104, 609, 622).

Steps

  1. HUD: click EN, press Esc.
  2. Editor: click the OpenScreen wordmark, press Esc.
  3. Select an arrow annotation, open its colour picker, press Esc.

Environment

v2.0.0 (DMG), macOS 27.0, Mac mini M1, real OS keyboard input (computer-use E2E pass). Related but different: #435 (outside click).

    Reopening: #1034 fixed Escape on the wordmark menu and the focus return of the HUD popovers, but a Fixes #1015 in its commit message closed this on merge. Still open:

    • keyboard navigation in the HUD language menu: focus never enters the list, and the arrow keys do nothing;
    • a macOS check of Escape on the HUD language menu and on the arrow annotation's colour popover. Both already close on Escape in Chromium, so if they still don't on macOS, Escape is probably not reaching the app.
