What happens
With the caret in the transcript, Ctrl+B, Ctrl+I and Ctrl+U (Cmd on macOS) apply bold, italic and underline to the words in the DOM. The document never sees it: the DOM and transcript.words drift apart.
Cause
The transcript block is contentEditable only to carry a caret. Its native beforeinput guard (src/components/ai-edition/RightPanes.tsx, around line 1307) prevents the delete* and insert* input types and lets every other one through, formatBold, formatItalic and formatUnderline included.
Expected
Formatting shortcuts do nothing in the transcript. One way: the guard prevents every input type it does not handle, so the next one is covered too. The word editor and the insertion field are <input>s and are already skipped.
How it was found
While fixing #1012, in headless Chrome. It predates that change.
