HUD: the bar drifts down when a popover opens near the top of the screen #1136
Found during the v2.1.0 release-candidate QA (Windows 11, 1920×1080 display, CI build of release/v2.1.0 @ 9c55596).
What happens
The HUD (horizontal bar) was dragged near the top of the display, with the bar at y≈200 (logical px).
Opening the language menu moved the bar down to y≈268, and it stayed there after the menu closed.
Opening Device settings moved it again, to y≈380.
Expected
The bar stays where the user dropped it. The HUD window may grow or reposition to fit a popover, but the bar's position must be restored when the popover closes, or the popover opens below the bar when there is no room above it.
Also seen on macOS 26.5 arm64 (same candidate, build run 38252812147, both e2e passes, results in #1131): the vertical bar dragged to the top-left, opening the language menu pushed the bar down by about 87 px, and it did not come back when the menu closed. The other pass measured about 68 px with the horizontal bar.
Cause, from the code: the renderer reports the whole visible stack (bar plus the open popover) as the rect to keep on screen (hud-overlay-content), and reclampHud in electron/windows.ts clamps that rect from the window's current position. The popover sticks out above the work area, so the window moves down to fit it. When the popover closes, the rect shrinks back to the bar, which is still on screen at its new position, so nothing moves it back: every nudge is permanent.
This change is assigned to the Next Release release milestone and is not necessarily available in the latest downloadable desktop release yet. It is currently marked as status: pending release until a packaged release containing it is published.
