Describe the bug

With no camera attached, the HUD camera toggle refuses ("Camera not found." notification, the button stays crossed out) but the setting is saved as enabled. Record mode then shows Camera On next to "No camera found", disagreeing with the HUD.

Steps to reproduce

  1. On a Mac with no camera, click the camera toggle on the HUD.
  2. Read recording-settings.json in userData, or open the editor's Record mode.

Expected

The toggle and the saved setting agree: camEnabled stays false when the camera could not be turned on, and Record mode shows Off.

Actual

"camEnabled": true is saved; Record mode shows Camera On with "No camera found". Takes still record correctly without a camera (webcam.enabled: false in the capture request), so this is a state/display mismatch, not a recording failure.

Environment

OpenScreen 2.0.0-rc.8, macOS 26.5, Mac mini with no camera.

    Fixed by #972 and merged into main.

    This change is assigned to the v2.0.0 release milestone and is not necessarily available in the latest downloadable desktop release yet. It is currently marked as status: pending release until a packaged release containing it is published.
