Nix-ify the Repo

I'd like to get this repo using as much nix as possible to see what can really be done with the amazing build tools that nix has to offer.

My initial first thought is that it would be cool to have some nix checks that can eventually be run as an action that would do something like loading a nixos vm with the package installed, loading some sample data and then running the program while using all the available options and extra arguments and then verifying the outputs to ensure that the package is performing as expected.

Any other suggestions would be wonderful!
