v1.17.0 - 2026/10/01
* New: WPPilot Cloud. A WPPilot Cloud card on the Connect screen pairs this site with an app.wppilot.co workspace: sign in there, choose Read Only or Production Safe access and which abilities, then confirm on this site. The site creates an access token for the Cloud (listed as "Managed by WPPilot Cloud") and hands it over server to server, so it never passes through a browser. The Cloud can read the site's status and unlink itself through two new routes that accept only that token; the site sends a signed hourly heartbeat. Disconnect revokes the token.
* The wppilot_tool_call_rate_limit filter now receives the credential being budgeted as a second argument. The WPPilot Cloud credential is allowed at least 600 write calls a minute, unless the limit is switched off.

v1.16.0 - 2026/09/30
* New, formerly WPPilot Pro: WooCommerce basics. wppilot/woocommerce-check-setup, list and read products and variations, product categories and tags, store settings, and read orders and customers (orders and customers also need manage_woocommerce), with the input and output Pro gives them. wppilot/woocommerce-edit-product edits one product's name, description, prices and stock, saves through WooCommerce so its lookup tables and caches follow, keeps backslashes, and can be undone from the Changes screen: the undo writes the old values back through WooCommerce and says which fields did not come back. Bulk prices and stock, order and customer writes, refunds, coupons, reports, shipping, tax, gateways and full product editing (SKU, categories, images, attributes) stay in Pro, whose richer edit-product takes over when Pro is active.
* New, formerly WPPilot Pro: one post's SEO title, meta description and robots in Yoast SEO, Rank Math, All in One SEO, SEOPress, The SEO Framework, Slim SEO and SmartCrawl (a get and an edit per plugin, under the names Pro uses; only the active plugins' abilities register). A raw meta write could trip Yoast's 0/2/1 noindex codes or AIOSEO's all-or-nothing robots switch; these write the way each plugin's own editor does. Every write keeps a before-image of exactly what it changed and wppilot/rollback-change restores and checks it; AIOSEO, which keeps SEO in its own table, is restored through its own model. Slim SEO cannot force index and has no follow flag, and SEOPress has no per-post force-index; the descriptions say so. Focus keywords, canonicals, social previews, schema, redirects and bulk SEO stay in Pro, whose richer per-post abilities register first on a site running it.

> **New in 1.17: [WPPilot Cloud](https://app.wppilot.co).** Connect every WordPress site you run to ChatGPT, Claude, Cursor or any MCP client through **one link** - `https://app.wppilot.co/mcp`. Free for 3 sites; a WPPilot Pro licence adds more sites and bulk actions. Optional: the direct, self-hosted connection works exactly as before.

Installs straight into **Plugins - Add New - Upload Plugin**. That link always resolves to the newest release, so it does not go stale. Older versions are on the [releases page](https://github.com/wppilot-labs/wordpress-mcp-elementor-wppilot/releases). GitHub's own *Source code (zip)* is **not** installable: it has no `vendor/` and uses a versioned folder name.

WPPilot turns your WordPress site into an **MCP server**, built on the WordPress Abilities API and the official WordPress MCP Adapter. AI clients discover, inspect and execute *typed* WordPress abilities through a compact three-tool interface instead of loading hundreds of one-off endpoints into context.

### How WPPilot compares to other WordPress MCP servers

WordPress MCP servers differ most in what happens *after* an agent writes: who confirms a destructive call, whether a change can be undone, and whether the server runs on your own site or through someone else's relay. WPPilot is self-hosted with no call caps. It can require a person, not the model, to confirm destructive calls. It records every write in a change ledger, and its undo checks the restored state against the before-image instead of assuming it worked. The free plugin covers Elementor editing, accessibility and content audits, and search and replace with undo.

Other servers lead elsewhere, and the comparisons say so. Every competitor fact is sourced and dated:

OAuth-authenticated clients use `/wp-json/mcp/wppilot-oauth`. Application passwords and access tokens both authenticate on the canonical route. The older `/wp-json/mcp/mcp-adapter-default-server` route still resolves as a legacy alias, but new configurations should use the canonical path above.

## WPPilot Cloud: every site in ChatGPT and Claude (optional)

The free plugin connects one site directly. **WPPilot Cloud** is an optional hosted account at [app.wppilot.co](https://app.wppilot.co) that puts **all** your sites behind one MCP link, so ChatGPT, Claude, Cursor, VS Code, Codex, Gemini CLI or any MCP client can work across them without a connector per site.

1. Install WPPilot **1.17 or newer** on each site.
2. In wp-admin: **WPPilot → Connect → WPPilot Cloud**, sign in (or create a free account) and choose what Cloud may do on that site: **Read only** or **Production safe**. The site creates its own access token and sends it to Cloud server to server - it never passes through a browser.
3. Add `https://app.wppilot.co/mcp` to your AI app once. It signs in to Cloud and you pick which sites it may reach. Cursor, VS Code, LM Studio and Goose install with one click from **Connect AI** in the Cloud panel.

The AI then lists your sites, discovers each site's tools (including WPPilot Pro tools where Pro is installed), runs them, reviews changes and undoes them. **Each site stays the final authority:** its safety profile, human confirmations, change ledger and undo apply exactly as with a direct connection, and Cloud can never exceed the access the site granted. Disconnect from either side and the token is revoked.
