Hi,
I use go-e chargers with an external energy management system (ioBroker) which dynamically controls the charging current via the API.
For grid-control use cases such as §14a EnWG / EEBUS LPC, it would be very useful to have a watchdog directly in the charger.
The idea would be:
An external EMS periodically refreshes a watchdog/heartbeat via API.
If no heartbeat is received within a configurable timeout, e.g. 30 or 60 seconds, the charger automatically switches to a configurable failsafe state.
Possible failsafe actions:
set charging current to a configured minimum, e.g. 6 A
optionally stop charging completely
optionally switch to a predefined phase/current configuration
Example:
normal operation: external EMS allows 16 A
watchdog timeout: 60 s
failsafe current: 6 A
EMS/network communication fails
charger automatically reduces to 6 A without depending on the external controller
This would be especially helpful when multiple controllable loads share a dynamic grid limit. A charger may temporarily receive a higher limit, but if communication to the EMS breaks down, it should not indefinitely keep that last higher value.
Ideally the API could expose:
watchdog enable/disable
watchdog timeout
failsafe current
failsafe action
watchdog status / last heartbeat
Would something like this be possible in the firmware/API?
