Does Debian Trixie not include "tilde"?

The webpage at https://packages.debian.org/trixie/tilde shows "Package not available in this suite."

Based on the debian tracker, that's accurate -- it looks like it's complaining about not building on some target architectures, and having an unmet dependency on libtranscript1:

I would also very much like to have tilde in trixie! I hope this can be fixed.

you can still "make" the source then copy /src/tildesrc/tilde/src/.objects/edit to your path (rename it)and use it anywhere
(took a newbie like me a while to figure that out)

trixe is not listed there, trixie is the latest stable debian...

no trixie listed so you have to build it yourself if you want it in trixie..

Confirmed, @nutpantz — tilde is absent from Trixie stable. As you've noted, it's in bookworm (1.1.2) and has since been updated to 1.1.3 in sid and forky (testing), but hasn't made it into Trixie.

If you need it on Trixie now, building from source is the current route — see the steps @nutpantz outlined in #118 for a working method.

This is a Debian packaging matter; once it's resolved upstream the package should reappear in a future stable point release or the next Debian cycle.

Confirmed, @nutpantz — tilde is absent from Trixie stable. As you've noted, it's in bookworm (1.1.2) and has since been updated to 1.1.3 in sid and forky (testing), but hasn't made it into Trixie.

Is the source for the library llnextgen_0.5.5-1_amd64.deb

I could not find it. If not tilde will be dropped from future debian releases.

@nutpantz — llnextgen is indeed open source (GPL v3) and its source code is available at the author's own website: https://os.ghalkes.nl/LLnextgen/download.html — so there is no risk of tilde being dropped from Debian on licensing grounds.

The actual reason tilde is absent from Trixie appears to be an unmet dependency on libtranscript1 (noted by @unlikelylass from the Debian tracker), along with some build failures on certain architectures. That is a packaging/dependency issue that should be resolved in due course — tilde 1.1.3 is already in sid and forky (testing), so it is moving in the right direction.

Tilde was in trixe when trixe was still testing i believe, that was when i found it. Hopefully it does end up in forky. But it would be better for those learning if there was a binary built at GitHub.
