⚠️ This release contains potential breaking change if you use experimental zstd support introduce in #​1496 ⚠️

Experimental support for zstd on scrape was added, controlled by the request Accept-Encoding header.
It was enabled by default since version 1.20, but now you need to add a blank import to enable it.
The decision to make it opt-in by default was originally made because the Go standard library was expected to have default zstd support added soon,
golang/go#62513 however, the work took longer than anticipated and it will be postponed to upcoming major Go versions.

🤖 fix-renovate-prs rerun_failed_actions: The test-with-cover-others job exited 143 (SIGTERM) with 'The runner has received a shutdown signal' after all tests in the log show PASS; the runner was cancelled mid-run rather than a real test failure. Rerunning the failed job should suffice.

🤖 fix-renovate-prs rerun_failed_actions: The diff only bumps prometheus/client_golang in the isolated tools/go.mod module and cannot exercise modules/backendscheduler/provider. The failing assertion in TestCompactionProvider_EmptyStart is in a timing-sensitive area whose own comments flag prior flakiness, so this is a spurious failure unrelated to the bump.

🤖 fix-renovate-prs rerun_failed_actions: The only failure is TestCompactionProvider_EmptyStart in modules/backendscheduler/provider — a known-flaky test (see the prior deflake commit 9a659d3) that is entirely unrelated to this PR's diff, which only touches tools/go.mod and tools/go.sum. Rerunning the job should clear it.

🤖 fix-renovate-prs rerun_failed_actions: The Vendor check failed with repeated stream error: stream ID X; INTERNAL_ERROR; received from peer responses from proxy.golang.org while downloading unrelated modules (opentelemetry, aws-sdk, prometheus/sigv4) — a transient network/proxy issue, not a defect from the prometheus/client_golang bump.
