Keep the test title out of the system prompt so prompt caching spans tests (upstream #1344) - #631
Upstream tester-army/e2e#1344 (af1ebd5) found that putting Test: <title> in the agent context made every test's system prompt differ, so provider prompt caching no longer spanned tests. It moves the line to the opening of the user message and hands a custom executor the title path as ctx.attempt.titlePath. The port still joined the title into ResolvedAgent.Context (the system prompt) and kept a KeyedContext just to keep it out of the cache key. This ports the fix.
Prompts.TestTitleLine (new src/E2E/Agent/Prompts.cs, upstream testTitleLine in agent/prompts.ts).
The act prompt (DefaultAgent.Opening), the extract prompt and the judgment prompt open with Test: <title> and a blank line. The system message no longer carries it.
ExecutorAttempt.TitlePath (upstream ExecutorAttempt.titlePath), set in ActContext from AttemptScope.TitlePath, redacted per step; empty outside a test (no TestFile).
ResolvedAgent.KeyedContext removed (upstream removed keyedContext); ClaimKey digests Context. WithTestContext joins only the agent and test contexts (upstream joinAgentContext(config, test)).
Explore wording: the goal is "on the Test: line" (Explore/Body.cs, Explore/Executor.cs).
AgentEntryPrompt/TheBuiltInAgentFromItsAgentsEntryTests: the act and judgment title tests renamed as upstream and checking the user message, the same system message across tests, and the new redaction test.
PlainStringSecrets/*: executor test reads TitlePath and a context without the title (marked Partial as before); the built-in agent test checks the prompt.
Explore/E2eExploreTests: prompt instead of system.
TraceCacheReplay comment updated.
Not ported / report
Upstream explore.test.ts "never runs under explore" new assertion (call.prompt does not contain the goal): the port has no such test at all (pre-existing gap).
Upstream test helpers (fake-model.ts, sdk-types.ts, other titlePath: [] fixture edits) have no .NET counterpart; the port's tests build contexts differently.
Upstream's buildPrompt also puts the title in the repair prompt; the port builds the repair as a follow-up message in the same conversation, so the title opens the first message only.
.NET-only symbols: AttemptScope.TitlePath (the port keeps one title string plus TestFile, where upstream keeps test.titlePath) and Agent.TitleOpening (private; upstream builds the judgment prompts in buildPrompt, the port builds them inline). The three renamed/new AgentEntryPrompt tests carry upstream's new it texts.
Same as upstream, not changed: a ToolLoop-based custom executor whose BuildPrompt ignores Attempt.TitlePath no longer sees the title; an empty title with a test file gives a bare Test: line.
Upstream differences seen, not touched: the port's act prompt says Goal: where upstream says Execute this test step:.
Verification
E2E.Tests: 2145/2149; 4 failures were load-related timeouts (clear action, AgentPolicy); the ones I reran pass.
RealModel (E2E.Agent.Tests, E2E.NUnit.Tests, samples): pass (one E2E.Agent.Tests failure passed on rerun). Mobile/WinApp benchmark projects fail for lack of a device/desktop, as on main.
Built-in test and judge prompts now begin with the test title, helping clarify which test a prompt relates to. Explore prompts use the Test: goal as their guide.
Custom executors can access the redacted test title path separately from agent context.
Bug Fixes
Test titles are redacted in prompts, and no title line is added when running without a test file.
…tests (upstream #1344)
The Test: <title> line moves from the agent context (system message) to the
opening of the user message of every act, assert, waitFor and extract call, and
the executor reads the title path as Attempt.TitlePath. Upstream

Walkthrough
Test titles now appear in opening prompts instead of agent context. Executor attempts expose redacted title paths separately, and cache-key context uses agent context without the title. Explore guidance and tests now refer to the Test: line in prompt content.

Merge Risk: Minimal · up to bbe2d
No actionable merge-blocking risk is identified in the selected changes; merge after normal checks.
Security architecture risk: Low · up to f11be
The change separates test labels from shared configuration while preserving per-test replay identity and secret filtering. No introduced security issue was established, but third-party integration coverage remains incomplete.
Retained concerns
No architecture-level concerns identified.
Security review details
Security Blast Radius
inferred — The changed exposure concerns test-title data delivered to configured executors and external inference requests within the existing test execution environment. The inspected delta adds metadata and changes text placement; it does not add action capabilities, credentials or a new network destination.
Trust Boundaries and Controls
observed — The changed title paths apply redaction before executor or inference consumption. The redactor preserves known markers, and the built-in opening applies a final redaction pass. Trace recording separately redacts recorded system and message text.
observed — Not every title-bearing field is covered by the new redacted contract: ExecutorAttempt.TestId still receives raw TestTitle. This assignment predates the PR and is unchanged, so it is not an introduced concern. Its downstream consumers remain outside the completed coverage; TitlePath redaction must not be generalized to all executor metadata.

Explanation
Issue #625 requires the upstream #1344 behavior: keep Test: <title> out of the system prompt and place it in the user prompt. The change adds Prompts.TestTitleLine, removes title text from WithTestContext, and adds the title to act, extract, and judgment prompts. ExecutorAttempt.TitlePath supplies the title path to custom executors. Updated tests check user-message placement, unchanged system prompts, and title redaction. The reported Explore assertion gap and repair-prompt difference are not requirements in #625.
Full details: Out of Scope Changes check
Explanation
The changes remain connected to the #625 port. TitlePath, title redaction, and KeyedContext removal implement the upstream data-flow and cache-key changes. Explore wording, documentation, and tests update the new prompt contract. The TraceCacheReplay comment and helper change follow the cache-context change. No unrelated change is demonstrated.
Full details: Upstream Parity
Explanation
Point 4 remains unmet. The PR changes user-visible prompt placement and adds public ExecutorAttempt.TitlePath in src/E2E/Agent/Executor.cs; the authoritative diff updates skills/e2e-dotnet/ and COMPATIBILITY.md but changes no file under docs/. The PR description now names Agent.TitleOpening and AttemptScope.TitlePath as .NET-only with reasons, so the prior point 1 concern is addressed. The skipped Explore assertion is named with a reason.
Resolution
Add the equivalent documentation under docs/ for the title in the user message, the title-free AgentContext, and ExecutorAttempt.TitlePath, using the upstream wording in C# terms. Keep the existing skills and COMPATIBILITY.md updates.

Review comments at @skills/e2e-dotnet/references/agent.md:
- Line 82: Qualify the title-prompt guarantee in the agent guidance and SKILL.md
as applying only to built-in prompts. Clarify that custom executors such as the
ToolLoop example build their own prompts and must use context.Attempt.TitlePath
if they need the test title; the example using context.Step.Instruction alone
does not guarantee a “Test:” prefix.
- Line 87: Update the wording near AttemptScope.ClaimKey to say the context
digest leaves the test title out, not the replay key. Preserve the distinction
that TestTitle is passed separately to CacheKeys.Create and therefore changing
the title changes the replay key.
Review comments at @src/E2E/Explore/Executor.cs:
- Line 34: Update the XML summary for ExploreRules to describe the current
prompt contract: the goal appears as the title on the Test: line, not as agent
context. Leave the prompt text and other summary details unchanged.
