What

Adds two sections to the docfx site, modeled on upstream's quickstart, mobile and example-projects pages (tester-army/e2e docs/).

  • Get started (docs/get-started/): overview, Web, Mobile, .NET MAUI and Windows. Each page covers prerequisites, the test project, e2e.config.json, a first test and how to run it.
  • Samples (docs/samples/): overview plus Dariten, TodoMVC, Mobile app (MAUI) and WinApp benchmark.
  • docs/toc.yml, docs/docfx.json and docs/index.md link the new pages.

Checks

  • Built the new pages with docfx 2.80.1 with API metadata removed: no warnings and no broken links. The full build with --warningsAsErrors has not run, because the container lacks SDK 10.0.401.
  • Code samples were adapted from the existing samples and skill references. They were not compiled or run.
  • /code-review was run, and its findings are fixed in this branch: one test-runner form (--project), the mobile sample's category wording, a placeholder note on the web page, the Fixtures directory in the WinApp page, and duplicate toc entries.
  • Docs-only change, so the real-model tests were not run.

Report

  • No upstream tests were ported and no src/ symbols were added.
  • No tests were added or skipped.

Walkthrough

The documentation adds a shared getting-started overview, guides for Web, Mobile, .NET MAUI, and Windows, and guides for four sample projects. DocFX content patterns and site navigation now include these pages.

Changes: Getting-started and sample documentation

Layer / File(s) Summary
Shared overview and navigation
docs/docfx.json, docs/get-started/index.md, docs/index.md, docs/toc.yml
The shared guide describes supported platforms, setup, APIs, and configuration. DocFX and site navigation include the new guides and sample pages.
Platform getting-started guides
docs/get-started/web.md, docs/get-started/mobile.md, docs/get-started/maui.md, docs/get-started/windows.md
The guides describe platform requirements, test setup, configuration, execution, and platform-specific behavior.
Sample guides

Systems and components

  • observed — docs (service) was modified; 13 changed files map to changed impact.

Before / after behavior

  • observed — Modified behavior in docs/docfx.json: The content entry now includes get-started/*.md and samples/*.md in addition to the existing file patterns.
  • observed — Modified behavior in docs/get-started/index.md: Added front matter setting the page title to “Get started.”
  • observed — Modified behavior in docs/get-started/index.md: Added an overview of the Web, Mobile, .NET MAUI, and Windows options, their engines, packages, and host requirements. Introduced the shared App, Agent, Screen, and Expect API, with an example agent action and locator assertion, and described exact-value assertions and verified-action replay.
  • observed — Modified behavior in docs/get-started/index.md: Added setup instructions to install the .NET 10 SDK and sign in through GitHub Copilot or configure an API-key provider; noted that locator-only tests do not require a model.

Full details: Title check

Explanation

The title "Add Get started and Samples sections to the docfx site" matches the main change. The PR adds Get started pages for Web, Mobile, .NET MAUI, and Windows, and Samples pages for Dariten, TodoMVC, a MAUI mobile app, and the WinApp benchmark, all linked from docs/toc.yml, docs/docfx.json, and docs/index.md. The title is specific and does not contain vague terms or file lists.

Full details: Upstream Parity

Explanation

The check applies because the PR names tester-army/e2e and upstream documentation files. The reviewed diff changes only docs/ files: documentation pages, DocFX content configuration, and navigation. It adds no src/ symbols, tests, public API, or product behavior. Therefore none of the four upstream-parity failure conditions applies. The upstream repository was not independently available, so exact upstream wording could not be verified; the PR text and COMPATIBILITY.md were used as the fallback evidence.

Use positional project arguments for every documented test command.

global.json does not select native MTP mode, so the SDK uses VSTest mode. VSTest does not accept --project. Replace every dotnet test --project <path> occurrence under docs/get-started and docs/samples with dotnet test <path>, preserving filters and environment variables.

Suggested fix
-dotnet test --project samples/E2E.Sample
+dotnet test samples/E2E.Sample

-dotnet test --project .
+dotnet test .

-dotnet test --project . --filter "TestCategory!=RealModel"
+dotnet test . --filter "TestCategory!=RealModel"

Apply the same replacement to the remaining occurrences in docs/get-started/*.md and docs/samples/*.md.
