Every search and Ask AI request walked the contents of ignored directories before discarding their entries. A scan of a repository with a large node_modules or .git tree therefore paid for directory reads even when it returned only one source file.
Prune ignored directory names before descent. The regression records which paths receive file checks against a temporary tree with a mixed-case Node_Modules folder. It failed against main and passed with the change. The existing repository safety tests also passed. Storage accounting continues to use its own walker.
