Environment and installation
This page contains information for developers wanting to contribute to our community and who require support with setting up their environment and installing Solomon locally.

##Installation on UNIX and Linux machines ###Step 1 - setting up your environment The following items must be installed on your machine before you proceed with installation:
- Git
- Node.js with Node Package Manager (NPM)

Bower. With NPM installed you can execute
npm install -g bowerinto your terminal. -
Ember CLI. With NPM installed your can execute
npm install -g ember-cliinto your terminal.
###Step 2 - clone this repository Open your terminal and execute the following commands:
git clone https://github.com/hebeworks/Solomon.git-
cdinto the cloned directory npm installbower install
To check if your installation has been successful try running Solomon.
##Installation on Windows machines: The following instructions have been tested on a generic Windows 7 installation.
###Step 1 - setting up your environment The following items must be installed on your machine before you proceed with installation:
- Git, making sure you check the "Use GIT from the Windows Command Prompt" option
- Node.js with Node Package Manager (NPM)

Bower. With NPM installed you can execute
npm install -g bowerinto your command prompt. -
Ember CLI. With NPM installed your can execute
npm install -g ember-cliinto your command prompt.
###Step 2 - clone this repository Open your command prompt and execute the commands listed below. Whenever possible, run your command prompt as Administrator to avoid speed and installation issues:
git clone https://github.com/hebeworks/Solomon.git-
cdinto the cloned directory npm installbower installember windows
To check if your installation has been successful try running Solomon.
Windows rebuilds can be significantly slower than other platforms. We have added ember-cli-windows-addon to help improve matters. See ember-cli-windows-addon for more information.
