A LaTeX Beamer theme that follows the design manual of Technische Hochschule Ingolstadt. It keeps changes to the standard Beamer layout to a minimum, so you can drop it into any existing presentation without touching your slides. It is not a pixel-perfect copy of the PowerPoint templates, but brings the same design language to LaTeX Beamer.
- Everything in a single
.styfile with no external file dependencies. Just put the.styfile next to your main.texfile and add\usetheme{esplanade}to your LaTeX document. - Follows the official design manual of Technische Hochschule Ingolstadt - same colors, shapes, and logos.
- Stays close to the default LaTeX Beamer theme. Only the minimum necessary is changed, so you can add or remove this theme without editing any of your slides.
- Switches for faculty-specific color variants and research institute logos.
- Ready-made part-divider (
\partpage) and section-overview slide (\sectionpage) templates for larger decks.
- Download the
beamerthemeesplanade.styfile from this repository. - Put it next to your main LaTeX Beamer file.
- Add
\usetheme{esplanade}to the preamble of your LaTeX code. - Compile and enjoy.
- Replace the old
beamerthemeesplanade.styfile with the new one from this repository. - Compile and enjoy. No need to change anything else.

By default, frame titles and subtitles are rendered in italic, following the official design manual.
To use the upright font instead, pass the noitalictitles option:
\usetheme[noitalictitles]{esplanade}You can combine all options in a single \usetheme command, e.g.
\usetheme[faculty=i,institute=car]{esplanade}for the computer science faculty color scheme with the CARISSMA institute logo.
All standard beamer options are supported, e.g. different font sizes (10pt, 11pt, 12pt), aspect ratios (169, 43), and the t option for top-alignment.
\documentclass[12pt,aspectratio=169,t]{beamer}The handout mode removing animations is also supported.
These standard Beamer commands are actively rendered.

Ideas, feedback, and bug reports are very welcome — just open an issue. If you want to contribute code, please open an issue first, so we can discuss it before you send a pull request.
If you use this theme, please share it with others and leave a star on the repo. This helps bring the LaTeX community at THI together and documents the extent to which LaTeX is used for professional presentations at THI.
The pdf source files of the logos are converted to tikz code with Lovely-XPP/pdf2tikz. If you want to learn more about the layout of LaTeX Beamer, the official Beamer class user guide, the Base implementation of the Beamer package, or the beamer appearance cheat sheet are great starting points.
