Page: /en/shares/smb and /de/shares/smb
Operating system: macOS
Documented: domain facts.shares.domain. The values table says clients without a separate domain field want the combined form ESPL_001\<kennung>.
Open:
- Whether Finder's login dialog has a domain field at all. No source describing the dialog's fields was found; Apple's guide only says to enter a user name and password. The page used to say "if asked for a domain", which may never happen.
- Whether
facts.shares.home_server accepts the bare <kennung> from Finder, or needs the domain.
- If it needs the domain, which spelling Finder accepts:
ESPL_001\<kennung> in the name field, or ESPL_001;<kennung>@ in the address. The macOS terminal step uses the second form with mount_smbfs, and that has not been run either.
What the page is being changed to say: try the bare <kennung>, and use the combined form if it is refused.
What would close this: a person on a Mac, on campus or over VPN, says which name worked, as a comment here. If they followed the whole macOS block, a check record through the form adds the date as well. The macOS block has no lastChecked date so far.
