Summary

  • Renovate (renovate.json) — weekly dependency updates for mix deps, immediate security PRs with security label, semantic commits, no automerge
  • Mergify (.mergify.yml) — merge queue with squash merge after approval + green CI; deletes head branch after merge
  • Codecov — Coverage CI job via mix coveralls.cobertura, upload with codecov/codecov-action@v4, codecov.yml target 80% (informational)
  • release-please — automated releases and CHANGELOG from conventional commits (release-type: elixir)
  • CONTRIBUTING.md — conventional commit conventions
  • README — Dependabot alerts setup (security only; Renovate handles version updates)

Manual setup after merge

  • Install Renovate and Mergify GitHub Apps
  • Connect repo on codecov.io and add CODECOV_TOKEN secret
  • Enable Dependabot alerts in Settings → Code security and analysis (disable version updates)
  • Configure branch protection on main: require PR, 1 approval, required status checks (Test ×2, Dialyzer, Coverage)

Test plan

  • CI runs on this PR (tests, dialyzer, coverage job)
  • Codecov upload succeeds once CODECOV_TOKEN is configured (job uses fail_ci_if_error: false until then)
  • Review renovate.json, .mergify.yml, and workflow YAML for correctness

Set up dependency updates, merge queue, coverage reporting, and automated
releases with conventional commits. Includes CONTRIBUTING guide and Dependabot
alerts documentation (Renovate handles version updates).
