I am a Fractional CTO and Architect based in Seattle, thinking from the Salish Sea. With over 30 years of experience shipping web systems, founding technical training companies, and navigating tech cycles, I focus on the intersection of digital sustainability, scale, and maritime computing.

I am currently building tools that prioritize longevity and carbon efficiency.
- wsg-check: A first attempt at an automated checker for the W3C Web Sustainability Guidelines (WSG).
- sustainablewebsites2: A curated resource hub for building a lower-carbon web.
- Rendition: A high-performance media CDN built in Rust, focused on sustainable infrastructure at the edge.
- speed-and-position: What begun as a vacation project is now heading towards Sailing telemetry, NMEA data processing, and PostGIS-driven maritime mapping.
In my current "day job" as a Senior Solutions Architect at lululemon, I work on:
- Global Brand Tech & Digital Asset Management (DAM) with a focus on integrating AI into process.
- Headless CMS architecture and large-scale Design Systems.
- Performance, observability, and carbon-aware architecture.
My technical perspective is shaped by 30 years on the water and in the air.
- Maritime: Experienced sailor (C&C Landfall 38) and SUP instructor. I build tools for the Salish Sea.
- Aerial: FAA Part 107 certified drone pilot specializing in geospatial mapping.
- Audio: Exploring the mandolin and the intersection of music and code.
Languages: Rust, TypeScript, Node.js, SQL (PostGIS).
Systems: Headless CMS, Design Systems, GIS, Sustainable Architecture.
Standards: W3C Web Sustainability Guidelines (WSG), Web Accessibility (WCAG).
I am moving toward a fractional CTO practice. If you are a founder building sustainable infrastructure or mission-driven platforms:
