fix: restore test suite health — green jest run (142 suites, 1414 tests) - #387
Conversation
- Restore plugins/{npm,cline,nemoclaw,nullclaw,browser-use} removed as
collateral in the bulk invalid-plugin sweep (6ec6e6b); their test
suites remained on master and every sibling plugin survived.
- Prefer the _._ catch-all in findNamespacePassthrough: the first
passthrough:true command (e.g. vercel deploy.run with baseArgs
["deploy"]) shadowed the catch-all, misrouting unmatched input for
~1175 plugins.
- Re-add vercel.account.whoami (dropped when the plugin was re-added
with a reduced manifest; covered by the surviving test).
- Derive CLI_VERSION from package.json — the hardcoded constant had
drifted (1.31.5 vs 1.32.0); un-hardcode supercli-version test.
- Update stale commands-handler test to expect code 85 for unknown
namespaces, matching the deliberate cli-spec change in aebc87d.
- Add __tests__/helpers/plugin-test-env.js (runNoServer, makePluginEnv,
withInstalledPlugin) — the helper the inbox-watch test was merged
expecting; exclude __tests__/helpers/ from jest test matching.

Pass the CLI path as an argument, not shell text.
When a checkout path contains spaces, the shell splits CLI and the helper cannot start the CLI. Use execFileSync(process.execPath, [CLI, ...args]) with an argument array instead of interpolating a command string. This also avoids shell interpretation of test arguments.

Keep SUPERCLI_SERVER unset in plugin tests.
When the parent process defines SUPERCLI_SERVER, makePluginEnv copies it into ctx.env. This spread restores it after Line 11 deletes it. withInstalledPlugin then runs installation with a server configured, contrary to the helper’s no-server contract. Merge the supplied environment first, then delete SUPERCLI_SERVER.

Keep tool discovery within the install hook deadline.
When the remote MCP connection stalls, discovery can spend 15 seconds on JSON-RPC and then try three more probes. The 15-second post-install hook terminates before run() reaches its fallback bindings. Installation fails even though the fallback is intended to permit it. Skip discovery when the API key is absent, or bound the complete discovery attempt well below the hook deadline. (raw.githubusercontent.com)

Keep the API key out of process arguments.
When BROWSER_USE_API_KEY is set, both MCP discovery and tool execution expand this argument before spawning npx. The key then appears in the child process command line, where other local processes can read it. Pass the header through a mechanism that does not put the expanded key in argv. The env entry alone does not prevent this expansion. (raw.githubusercontent.com)

Remove the debug logging. It prints the API key.
Line 47 writes the raw argv to stderr. Line 49 writes the parsed object to stderr. Both include the --api-key value in plain text. stderr is shown to the user and can also be captured in CI logs or agent transcripts. Delete both lines.

Align the inner timeout with the outer timeout.
The spawnSync call here waits up to 900000 ms. The manifest sets timeout_ms: 180000 for this command. The adapter kills the wrapper first. Output is buffered, so all nemoclaw output is then lost. Also, the child may keep running after the wrapper is killed. Raise the manifest timeout, or set both timeouts to the same value.
