fix(get): resolve provider access tokens kept as config secrets in get and sync - #1125
fnox exec and fnox export passed the token to bws, but fnox get HF_TOKEN and fnox sync failed with Access token not found without ever trying to resolve BWS_ACCESS_TOKEN. This affects every provider whose credentials come from a config secret.
Fix
fnox get reads the secret as before; if that fails and its provider may need other secrets to authenticate (such as BWS_ACCESS_TOKEN), it resolves those, exposes them to the provider, and retries once. Unused default references are not pulled in, and get --refresh clears those secrets from the daemon cache too.
fnox sync resolves the same dependencies, but still syncs only the selected secrets (the token is not encrypted or written to the target).
The bitwarden-sm "Access token not found" hint now says the variables must be set in the environment and that a config secret is loaded only by commands that resolve secrets.
Not included: an explicit access_token = { secret = "..." } provider field (a possible follow-up).
Validation
cargo test -p fnox -p fnox-core passes. No new regression test and the bats suite was not run; I didn't reproduce against a real Bitwarden Secrets Manager.

Summary by CodeRabbit
Bug Fixes
Retrieving a secret now resolves its provider dependencies. When refresh is enabled, the requested secret and its dependencies are refreshed.
Syncing selected secrets now resolves their provider dependencies, while syncing only the secrets explicitly selected.
Access-token error guidance clarifies that configured BWS_ACCESS_TOKEN or FNOX_BWS_ACCESS_TOKEN secrets are loaded by commands that resolve secrets, but not by fnox set or fnox provider test.
Note
Medium Risk
Changes core read/sync resolution and temporarily injects resolved credentials into the process environment, but the retry is scoped, preserves user-supplied env vars, and avoids masking the original read outcome when dependency resolution fails.
Overview fnox get and fnox sync now resolve provider authentication secrets (e.g. BWS_ACCESS_TOKEN defined as its own fnox secret) the same way fnox exec / fnox export already could, fixing failures where the remote secret never loaded because the token was only in config.
For fnox get, the command still resolves the requested key first; if that does not succeed and the provider declares env dependencies, it resolves those missing credentials (via with_read_dependencies, without pulling unused default chains), sets them in the process environment without overwriting values the user already supplied, and retries once. --refresh now invalidates the daemon cache for that dependency closure, not just the target key.
For fnox sync, batch resolution includes the same read dependencies so providers can authenticate, but only the secrets the user selected are encrypted and written to the sync target.
The Bitwarden SM “Access token not found” hint now clarifies that tokens must be in the environment for some commands, and that a config secret with that name is loaded only when fnox resolves secrets—not by fnox set or fnox provider test.

…get and sync
fnox get and fnox sync resolved only the requested secret, so a provider
credential kept as another secret (for example BWS_ACCESS_TOKEN for
bitwarden-sm) was never read and the provider failed with 'Access token
not found'. Both commands now resolve the dependency closure as exec and
export do. The bitwarden-sm hint also mentions config secrets.

Get and sync now resolve read dependencies for selected secrets. Get refreshes the dependency closure when requested and can retry after exposing available dependency values. Sync removes dependency-only results before syncing. The Bitwarden access-token hint clarifies when config secrets are loaded.
Changes: Secret dependency resolution
Layer / File(s)
Summary
Get dependency resolution src/commands/get.rs, crates/fnox-core/src/providers/bitwarden_sm.rs
Get constructs the requested secret’s read-dependency closure. Refresh covers that closure. If the initial resolution does not return a value, Get resolves dependencies, exposes available values as environment variables, and retries only if it exposes at least one value. Dependency-resolution errors propagate; otherwise, Get retains the original result. The Bitwarden access-token hint states that config secrets are loaded only by secret-resolving commands, not by fnox set or fnox provider test.
Sync dependency resolution src/commands/sync.rs
Sync adds read dependencies to the resolution batch, then retains only selected secrets for syncing.
fnox get may retry an empty result after switching to a different provider credential, which can return a secret that was not visible under the credential the user set. A failing dependency lookup can also hide the original provider error. Resolve both before merging.

The title clearly identifies the main change: resolving provider access tokens stored as config secrets for both get and sync. The fix(get) scope is slightly incomplete because the change also affects sync, but the title remains specific and related.
Full details: Linked Issues check
Explanation
Issue #1124 requires fnox get and fnox sync to resolve provider credentials from config secrets. src/commands/get.rs builds the read-dependency closure, refreshes the requested key and dependencies, resolves dependencies after an unsuccessful first read, exposes their values, and retries once. src/commands/sync.rs resolves the same dependency closure and retains only selected secrets for output. crates/fnox-core/src/providers/bitwarden_sm.rs adds the requested config-secret guidance. The optional explicit access_token = { secret = "..." } field is not required by the issue. The reported Rust tests also pass.

Use with_read_dependencies so a provider token whose value comes from a

while an unused fallback on a provider-backed secret still does not.

failures downgraded by if_missing). Read the secret as before, and only

Do not resolve a provider-backed credential dependency when the provider already has an effective environment credential.
When BWS_ACCESS_TOKEN is valid in the process environment, with_read_dependencies still adds a same-named provider-backed config secret. Under if_missing = "error", failure of that unnecessary dependency propagates through the batch and aborts sync before the selected secret is fetched. Bitwarden would otherwise use the environment token first.
Make dependency expansion honor each provider's credential precedence. Skip a config dependency when the provider already has an effective environment credential, while retaining config-secret resolution when no such credential exists.

Overview
fnox getandfnox syncnow resolve provider authentication secrets (e.g.BWS_ACCESS_TOKENdefined as its own fnox secret) the same wayfnox exec/fnox exportalready could, fixing failures where the remote secret never loaded because the token was only in config. For

fnox sync, batch resolution includes the same read dependencies so providers can authenticate, but only the secrets the user selected are encrypted and written to the sync target. The Bitwarden SM “Access token not found” hint now clarifies that tokens must be in the environment for some commands, and that a config secret with that name is loaded only when fnox resolves secrets—not by
