Source · Issues

Publishing namespace: KenJorissen. This name must be created/selected as a team on Thunderstore before uploading; the tooling does not register it.

Two small, independent, MIT-licensed BepInEx 5 mods. No account, telemetry, paywall, custom server, or automatic updater is included in either mod.

Mod What it does Additional dependency
Explored Map Teleport Standard-map teleport to explored ground/shallow water, with vanilla item restrictions and nearby landing checks None
EpicLoot: No Fog Destinations New EpicLoot treasure/bounty centres must be explored; unavailable offers cannot be bought/accepted EpicLoot 0.14.13 only

Initial public betas: Explored Map Teleport 0.3.0; EpicLoot: No Fog Destinations 0.2.3. Gameplay tested on Windows with Valheim 1.0.17 / Unity 6 / BepInEx 5.4.23.5 and other mods installed. Linux builds are supported; Linux gameplay, dedicated servers and all multiplayer combinations have not been verified. Back up important saves and see each mod's README for features, settings and beta limitations.

Install

Use r2modman or Thunderstore Mod Manager. Install the package into your chosen profile, or use Settings > Import local mod for a downloaded ZIP. The two mods can be enabled independently in the same profile. Launch through Start modded so your usual Steam/controller launch path is retained.

Manual installation: install the required dependencies, then put the package's plugins/*.dll into that installation's BepInEx/plugins directory. Do not install duplicate copies. Use the mod manager for updates when possible.

Build on Linux or Windows

Requirements: .NET 8 SDK, Python 3.10+, your own Valheim installation and BepInEx libraries. Framework reference assemblies are restored from NuGet; neither Windows nor Wine is required to compile. Game/EpicLoot reference DLLs are not redistributable build inputs and are never included in the repository/packages.

Set the following variables to your own installation paths, then run:

python3 scripts/dev.py refs --mod MapTeleport \
  --game-dir "$VALHEIM_GAME_DIR" --bepinex-dir "$VALHEIM_BEPINEX_DIR"
python3 scripts/dev.py build --mod MapTeleport
python3 scripts/dev.py test
python3 scripts/dev.py package --mod MapTeleport

For both mods, use --mod all for refs/build; --epicloot-dll can override where the collector finds EpicLoot's installed DLL. HelloWorld is a source-only smoke-test sample, not a release package.

Build outputs are in artifacts/; clean distributable ZIPs are in artifacts/release/. Each package contains only its plugin DLL, public metadata, README, changelog, generated icon and license/notices—no references, debug symbols, gameplay logs or local configuration.

Optional Linux → Windows development

SSH/SCP are optional; local builds do not need them. No machine address or user path is hardcoded. Windows paths are discovered from the remote user's environment and Steam registry; use --game-dir or --manager-data for nondefault installs.

export VALHEIM_SSH_HOST=ssh-account@game-pc
python3 scripts/dev.py refs --mod all
python3 scripts/dev.py build --mod all
python3 scripts/dev.py setup-profile --mod all --profile ModDev --source-profile Default

Refresh r2modman's profile list, choose ModDev, import the ZIPs from that Windows user's Downloads folder, then click Start modded. The helper copies the source profile only when the target is missing; it never overwrites an existing profile or starts/stops Valheim. Source/default profiles are protected.

After native import, deploy --mod NAME supports quick DLL iteration with the game closed. Reimport a new package for durable manager/cache updates. status --mod NAME reads the selected profile's log; start prints instructions rather than launching the EXE directly.

Optional machine-specific settings may live in ignored .private/dev.json; see docs/dev-config.example.json. Never commit, force-add, attach or upload .private/, .refs/, .tools/ or raw gameplay logs.

Release and contribute

See the release guide for Thunderstore, GitHub and Nexus publishing, privacy checks, namespaces and beta testing requirements.

python3 scripts/privacy.py
python3 scripts/dev.py release --namespace KenJorissen --website https://github.com/kenjorissen/ValheimMods

CI runs policy and packaging/tooling tests without proprietary game assemblies. A real release build still requires your own references and manual game testing. Implementation was AI-assisted; select the AI Generated category when the hosting community provides one. The generated icons use no third-party artwork.

License: MIT, for this repository's original code and documentation. External game/mod libraries retain their own licensing; see third-party notices.
