@evelikov I think underscores() came in the original "implementation batch" using module-init-tools as a reference. Some of the helpers came from module-init-tools and not everything got consolidated.

At a glance, the underscores() users prevail so we could consolidate on that. Although the person writing the patches will ultimately decide 😉
