✦ AuraTime

Aura Time

License: GPL v3 Version: 1.1.0 Deploy with Vercel

Good Time / Bad Time Checker

A lightweight, cross-platform utility that instantly tells you whether the current time falls within traditionally inauspicious Vedic time periods — Rahu Kalam, Yamagandam, or Gulika Kalam.

Works as both an interactive Terminal CLI and an accessible, installable Progressive Web App (PWA).

✨ Features

  • ⚡ Instant results — Accurate Vedic auspicious status computed in < 2ms.
  • 🎨 Multi-Theme Cycling Engine — Seamlessly cycle through 5 tailored themes:
    • 🌌 Cosmic Midnight (Default deep obsidian & indigo glow)
    • ☀️ Pristine Dawn (Clean, high-contrast light mode)
    • 🌅 Solar Twilight (Vedic amber, warm saffron, and terracotta dusk)
    • 🌿 Zen Forest (Deep pine slate with radiant emerald accents)
    • 🔮 Mystic Cyber (Synthwave abyss with electric cyan & magenta)
  • 🖼️ Modern Vector Favicons & PWA Icons — Handcrafted SVG vector favicon, multi-resolution .ico, Apple touch icon, and high-DPI PWA icons organized in assets/.
  • 🚀 Vercel Ready — Built-in vercel.json with clean URLs, PWA caching headers, and automatic root routing.
  • ♿ Full Accessibility — Keyboard navigable schedule items (Enter / Space), non-intrusive focus rings, screen reader labels, and accessible modal dialogs with proper inert isolation.
  • 📱 PWA with Offline Support — Installable on mobile & desktop, functioning 100% offline via Service Worker.
  • 🖥️ Cross-Platform — Windows (.bat), Linux (.sh), and macOS (.sh) one-click launchers.
  • 🕐 24-Hour Time Format — Unambiguous live digital clock.
  • 📖 Educational Insights — Interactive explanation cards for every Vedic planetary period.

Linux / macOS:

chmod +x auratime_web.sh
./auratime_web.sh

Via npm manually:

Time Periods

Period Meaning Vedic Guidance
Rahu Kalam Ruled by the shadow planet Rahu. Traditionally avoided for starting new ventures or travel.
Yamagandam Governed by Yama, deity of death & justice. Avoid ceremonies and long-term commitments.
Gulika Kalam Linked to Saturn's sub-planet Gulika. Repeated efforts required; ideal for ongoing or repetitive tasks.

⚙️ Calculation Logic & Trade-offs

AuraTime uses a standard 06:00 sunrise / 18:00 sunset baseline rather than a live Ephemeris. This is a deliberate architectural decision to ensure:

  • ⚡ Instant Loading — No GPS geocoding lag or external network roundtrips.
  • 🔒 Absolute Privacy — No location permissions requested, tracked, or stored.
  • ✈️ Offline Native — Works anywhere on Earth without connectivity.
  • 📦 Zero Runtime Dependencies — Pure standard web technologies that stay fast forever.

For temple rituals requiring exact astronomical degrees, we recommend consulting a local Ephemeris Panchang.
