🏏 Indian Premier League (IPL) Analysis Dashboard – Excel

📘 Overview

This project is an interactive Excel dashboard created to analyze and visualize Indian Premier League (IPL) data from 2008 to 2024.
It enables users to explore team and player performance, toss impact, and venue-based match trends — all within Excel using Pivot Tables, Charts, and Slicers.


🎯 Objectives

  • Compare team wins based on whether they batted first or fielded first.
  • Examine team performance across multiple IPL seasons.
  • Identify top-performing players based on Man of the Match (MoM) awards.
  • Explore how venues influence match outcomes.
  • Display season-wise Winner, Runner-Up, and Player of the Series.

🧩 Dashboard Components

🗓️ Season Slicer

  • Interactive slicer for selecting any IPL season (2008–2024).
  • Automatically updates all charts and KPIs to reflect the selected year.
  • Displays:
    • 🏆 Winner
    • 🥈 Runner-Up
    • Player of the Series

📊 Matches Won by Team (Bat First vs Field First)

  • Clustered column chart comparing matches won by each team while batting first and fielding first.
  • Helps visualize which strategy worked best for each franchise.

🥇 Toss Decision Based Winning %

  • A 3D pie chart showing the percentage of wins when teams chose to bat or field first after winning the toss.
  • Reveals whether toss decisions significantly affect match outcomes.

🏟️ Venue Analysis

  • Horizontal bar chart showing Top 10 IPL venues with the most matches played.
  • Displays win distribution based on bat first or field first.
  • Useful for identifying venue trends and pitch behavior.

🏆 Title Winners Summary

  • Treemap chart showcasing the number of IPL titles won by each team.
  • Highlights dominant franchises such as:
    • Chennai Super Kings 🟩 (5 titles)
    • Mumbai Indians 🟧 (5 titles)
    • Kolkata Knight Riders 🟪 (3 titles)

👑 Most Man of the Match (MoM) Winners

  • Vertical bar chart displaying top players with the most MoM awards across all seasons.
  • Example: AB de Villiers, Chris Gayle, Rohit Sharma, Virat Kohli, MS Dhoni, etc.

  • Microsoft Excel (2016 or later)
  • Pivot Tables – for data summarization
  • Pivot Charts – for visual analytics
  • Slicers – for interactivity and filtering
  • FormulasSUMIFS, COUNTIFS, INDEX-MATCH, etc. for dynamic linking

📂 Data Source

  • IPL match data (2008–2024)
  • Team and player statistics
  • Venue information and toss outcomes

All data compiled from publicly available cricket statistics sources.


🚀 How to Use

  1. Open the Excel file: IPL_Analysis_Dashboard.xlsx
  2. Use the Year Slicer to select a specific IPL season.
  3. View automatic updates across all charts and KPIs.
  4. Hover over chart bars or slices for detailed insights.

📈 Example (IPL 2012)

  • Winner: Kolkata Knight Riders
  • Runner-Up: Chennai Super Kings
  • Player of the Series: Sunil Narine
  • Toss Decision Win Rate: 50% (Bat) / 50% (Field)
  • Top Venue: Subrata Roy Sahara Stadium hosted most matches
