Part of DF12-110

Applies the concordat rust-dev-build-footprint rule (0.2.1) to chutoro.

  • Cargo.toml: add [profile.dev] with incremental = false and debug = 0.
  • docs/developers-guide.md: document the dev profile settings, their rationale and local overrides.
  • The toolchain pin is the stable 1.99.1, so it is exempt from the unstable metadata key and none is added. The pin is unchanged.

Rule result (concordat at 0f0b419, concordat artefact rule run rust-dev-build-footprint):

  • before, on origin/main: noncompliant (DF-001, DF-002)
  • after, on this branch: compliant

Footprint evidence, one dev cargo build into a fresh target directory each, run sequentially:

  • origin/main: du -sh target 1.3G
  • this branch: 582M

Local gates (through the gate slot, sequential): make check-fmt, make lint and make test all pass; the docs paragraph passes make check-fmt, make markdownlint and make nixie.

Overlapping open PRs: none touch Cargo.toml's profile section.

Set incremental = false and debug = 0 in the default dev profile, per the
concordat rust-dev-build-footprint rule. The pinned toolchain is stable, so
no unstable Cargo key is needed. This reduces intermediate build artefact
storage.

Disable incremental compilation and debug information in the development profile. Set incremental = false and debug = 0 in the workspace Cargo.toml to reduce development build artefact storage.

The PR description reports a reduction from 1.3G to 582M for a sequential development build in a fresh target directory. It also reports that make check-fmt, make lint and make test passed.

Walkthrough

The workspace adds a development profile that disables incremental compilation and sets debug information to 0.

Full details: Docstring Coverage

Explanation

No functions found in the changed files to evaluate docstring coverage. Skipping docstring coverage check. Docstring coverage is scoped to functions touched by this diff. Analyzed 0 functions across 0 files. (1 skipped: 1 unsupported.)

Full details: Testing (Overall)

Explanation

PASS. The pull request changes only Cargo.toml by adding standard Cargo [profile.dev] settings: incremental = false and debug = 0. It adds no repository functionality or application behaviour. A test would only restate Cargo's handling of its own profile configuration, which this check does not require for a third-party tool. No substantive repository test is missing.

Full details: User-Facing Documentation

Explanation

PASS: The pull request changes only Cargo's development profile (incremental = false and debug = 0). These settings affect local build artefacts, not user-facing functionality or behaviour. No users-guide update is required.

Full details: Testing (Unit And Behavioural)

Explanation

Pass this check. The pull request changes only the root Cargo.toml development profile by setting incremental = false and debug = 0. It changes build configuration, not application behaviour, interfaces, persistence, or command-line workflows. No new unit, behavioural, or end-to-end test is required for this configuration-only change.

Full details: Testing (Property / Proof)

Explanation

PASS — The pull request changes only the workspace Cargo development profile by setting incremental = false and debug = 0. It introduces no invariant over inputs, states, orderings, or transitions, and it introduces no lemma or proof assumption. A property test or exhaustive proof is therefore not applicable.

Full details: Testing (Compile-Time / Ui)

Explanation

Treat this check as inapplicable. The pull request changes only Cargo.toml and adds [profile.dev] settings for build footprint: incremental = false and debug = 0. It introduces no Rust or TypeScript compile-time API behaviour, text output, structured output, or UI output. Therefore, no trybuild or snapshot test is required.

Full details: Unit Architecture

Explanation

PASS: The pull request changes only Cargo.toml. It adds [profile.dev] settings for incremental = false and debug = 0. It adds no query, command, fallible operation, dependency, side-effect, or test unit. The Unit Architecture failure conditions do not apply.

Full details: Domain Architecture

Explanation

The pull request changes only Cargo.toml. It adds [profile.dev] settings for incremental and debug. It does not change domain logic, adapters, transport, persistence, framework code, or infrastructure boundaries. The Domain Architecture failure conditions are therefore not introduced.

Full details: Observability

Explanation

PASS — The pull request changes only the Cargo development profile in Cargo.toml: it disables incremental compilation and sets debug = 0. This changes development build artefacts, not production runtime behaviour, service boundaries, throughput, latency, errors, retries, queues, or resource telemetry. No additional logging, metrics, tracing, or alerts are required by this check.

Full details: Developer Documentation

Explanation

The pull request changes the development build configuration in Cargo.toml by adding [profile.dev], incremental = false, and debug = 0. The pull request changes no developer documentation. The developer guide documents other build-standard settings, but it does not document these development-profile settings or their effect on local builds.

Resolution

Update docs/developers-guide.md, preferably in “The build standard”, to document the [profile.dev] settings, their purpose, and their effect on development, test, lint, and typecheck builds. Keep the documentation aligned with Cargo.toml.

  • Autofix · Keep fixing CodeRabbit findings and required CI, and resolving merge conflicts

@coderabbitai At head fbae901, the Developer Documentation warning in your latest pre-merge table (reviewed at d311761, which showed no ❌ Error rows) and the Codex P1 finding about documenting the dev profile are addressed: the build-standard section of docs/developers-guide.md now describes incremental = false and debug = 0, their rationale, the debugging cost and the local overrides. CI is green at this head. Are any ❌ Error rows or open findings left?

@buzzybee-df12 No ❌ Error rows or unresolved review threads remain in the retrieved PR evidence.

  • Pre-merge table: 14 passes, one Developer Documentation warning, and no ❌ Error rows. The table still covers d311761.
  • Documentation: Verified at fbae901. docs/developers-guide.md, Line 2119–2128, documents both settings, their rationale, the debugging cost, and local overrides. This addresses the warning.
  • Open findings: None. The Codex P1 thread is resolved.
  • CI: All reported checks at fbae901 are complete with success or skipped results. No checks failed or remain pending.

CodeRabbit’s full review coverage still ends at d311761; this reply verifies the documentation fix, not a new full review. To refresh the pre-merge table for the current head, post @coderabbitai review.
