VLDocking

VLDocking is a Swing docking framework for Java desktop applications.

This repository continues the historical VLDocking codebase with a Maven-based build while preserving the original package names and source layout.

Build

The project is validated with Java 17 and Maven.

Generated outputs:

• jar: target/vldocking-3.0.0.jar
• API docs: target/site/apidocs/index.html

Project Layout

• src/: main framework sources
• test/: historical test and demo-style sources kept for restoration review
• examples/: historical tutorial/example sources
• docs/wiki/: GitHub-compatible Markdown conversion of the historical VLDocking wiki

Documentation

• API documentation is generated with Maven Javadoc.
• The historical tutorial has been restored in docs/wiki/.

Restoration Notes

• This repository was reconstructed from multiple historical working copies in order to resume development from a clean baseline.
• Additional examples, tests, and tutorial material were recovered from older project archives.
• Some code was reviewed against later public maintenance work from the historical GitHub fork in order to recover targeted fixes.
• TODO: regenerate the missing historical wiki screenshots compoundDockables.jpg and multipleDesktops.jpg from examples if the original files remain unavailable.
