Python bindings for this?

I'm the author of ocrmypdf which currently interacts with classic agl/jbig2enc if installed. I'm interested in adding Python bindings to a jbig2 encoder as a replacement for needing to install and compile agl/jbig2enc which many users find troublesome.

If I were to contribute a PR to provide a Python interface (PyO3) to the main API is that something you'd be interested in having and maintaining? I'd provide CI to handle build/release to PyPI and the Python components would be opt-in so Rust users don't get them if they don't need them.

Hi, I didnt see this comment before as I dont get notifications. Big fan of your library and was partially the inspiration for my main program Lege. Yes python bindings are alright, I'll maintain it. The only issue is that this library is a submodule of my larger program so i'd have to be more careful in maintaining this git repo from then on as a separate project and not just a place to copy paste code to.

The version you reviewed .3 is good but the newest version .5.1 has much improved symbol mode. Let me know when you submit the pull request.

Deleted comment to remove confusion because I changed my mind about fork; I just updated the API and did some refactoring so that jbig2enc-rust (0.5.2) is now much more amenable to python bindings for ocrmypdf. I didnt want to write the bindings for you but the library is now ready for them.
