cookiecutter-ml-course

A standardized template for doing and sharing data science work

Getting Started

Follow these steps to set up your project environment:

1. Use This Template

Click the green "Use this template" button at the top of this repository, then select "Create a new repository". Give your project a meaningful name.

2. Clone Your Repository

git clone https://github.com/your-username/your-project-name.git
cd your-project-name

3. Create a Virtual Environment

# Create virtual environment
python3 -m venv venv #python>=3.8+

# Activate the virtual environment
# On Linux/macOS:
source venv/bin/activate

# On Windows:
# venv\Scripts\activate

4. Install Dependencies

# Upgrade pip
pip install --upgrade pip

# Install project dependencies
pip install -r requirements.txt

# Install the project in editable mode
pip install -e .

5. Start Working!

You're now ready to start your data science project. Here are some common next steps:

  • Add your raw data to data/raw/
  • Create exploratory notebooks in notebooks/
  • Develop data processing scripts in src/data/
  • Build models in src/models/
