Has something changed about registering modifiers?

I'm updating an app from ember-concurrency version 2.3.7 to 3.1.1 and an addon that provides a modifier is not throwing an error about its modifier not being recognized.

I'm using ember-concurrency-retryable and when my retryable task is attempted I'm getting this error:

Uncaught (in promise) Error:
  Assertion Failed:
    Task option 'retryable' is not recognized as a supported option.

I realize this may be due to ember-concurrency-retryable needing to make some sort of change to keep up with ember-concurrency, but so far I haven't been able to find any info about what specifically that addon may need to do.

After poking at this a bit I figured out that it's an issue of conflicting dependencies, but it's not really an incompatibility problem. Details here: maxfierke/ember-concurrency-retryable#600 (comment)
