fix(retag): block retags that would stop WUDup or its Docker endpoint - #889
Conversation
When DOCKER_HOST points at a network endpoint such as a socket proxy, the self-protection preflight now inspects the running containers in each stack's recreate scope and blocks the stack (docker-endpoint-recreate-blocked) if one of them serves that endpoint. Stopping it would cut WUDup off from Docker so it could not finish or roll back. Lookup failures fail closed; unix-socket DOCKER_HOST is unaffected and WUD itself stays updatable.
Retag apply now checks every selected stack before any Compose rewrite, pull, stop, or recreate, and fails closed when the retagged services include WUDup (by image or WUD_WEB_RESTART_CONTAINER identity) or the container serving WUDup's network DOCKER_HOST. It reuses the pending-update preflight helpers and messages. Refs #887

Reviewer's GuideRetag apply now performs a shared, fail-closed preflight across every selected stack before mutation, preventing retags that would recreate WUDup itself or the container providing its TCP Docker endpoint while preserving safe handling for Unix-socket or unset Docker hosts. A retag blocked by the recreate-scope guard now reports a preflight-phase failure event naming the blocked stack and services, since nothing was attempted. Adds an end-to-end retag apply test with a unix-socket DOCKER_HOST and a configured WUDup restart container.

Address SonarCloud findings on the retag scope guard: split validate_retag_recreate_scope and the retag failure progress event into small helpers to reduce cognitive complexity, and keep each pytest.raises block to a single call. Behavior is unchanged.

Retag apply passed --remove-orphans whenever the Compose project was not shared, so an orphaned WUDup or socket-proxy container left running after its service was removed from the Compose file could be deleted, cutting WUDup off from Docker. Retag never removes services, so it has no orphans of its own to clean up: drop orphan removal from retag recreate and rollback. The recreate-scope guard's scope is now exactly the retagged services. Summary
Fixes #887. The WebUI retag apply path stops or pauses and recreates the selected Compose services with no self-protection, so a retag of the socket proxy behind
DOCKER_HOST=tcp://socket-proxy:2375cuts WUDup off from Docker. Once that happens, health checks, recovery, and rollback all fail, which is the same failure as the production incident on the pending-update path that #888 guards. This PR adds the same guard to retag apply, built on #888's helpers.src/wudup/web_retag_scope.py:validate_retag_recreate_scopechecks each stack's retagged services (retag recreates with--no-deps, so the scope is exactly those services). It blocks a retag when:is_self_update_target)WUD_WEB_RESTART_CONTAINERcontainerDOCKER_HOSThost (docker_endpoint_host,DockerCli.container_dns_details,container_dns_names)compose ps, or the container inspect cannot be read. A unix-socket or unsetDOCKER_HOSTskips the endpoint check.web_retag_apply._apply_retag_updatesruns the guard for every selected stack before the first Compose rewrite, pull, stop, or recreate. If any stack is blocked, no stack is changed. The failure is recorded on the job and in theweb-retagaudit run. It is reported as a preflight failure event that names the blocked stack and services, because nothing was attempted._SELF_UPDATE_MESSAGE,_DOCKER_ENDPOINT_LOOKUP_MESSAGE,_docker_endpoint_message)._docker_endpoint_servicesnow takes aDockerCliinstead of the runner so both paths can share it.--remove-orphans. Retag never removes services, so it has no orphans of its own, and the flag only acted when orphans existed. It could delete an orphaned WUDup or socket-proxy container that the guard does not see. The guard's scope is now exactly the retagged services. The pending-update path keeps orphan removal; that is tracked in Pending updates: Compose --remove-orphans can remove WUDup or its Docker endpoint proxy #891.docs/wiki/webui-container.md, plus the ownership row insrc/wudup/AGENTS.md.Scope
