Summary

The v0.1.0 tag run failed at startup with:

The nested job oci-image is requesting attestations: read, but is only allowed attestations: none.

PR #7 added attestations: read to the callee job in go-oci-build.yml — correct, since the composite's installed acquisition path runs gh attestation verify — but did not raise the caller's ceiling in release.yml. A called workflow can never request more permission than the calling job grants, so the whole run is rejected before any job starts.

Changes

  • .github/workflows/release.yml: oci-image call job now grants attestations: read.
  • examples/go-release/.github/workflows/release.yml: same grant, so the copyable consumer caller works.
  • docs/how-to/configure-oci-images.md: documents the builder job permission set and why omitting it fails at startup.

Verification

  • Audited all four call sites programmatically, comparing each callee job's maximum requested permission against its caller's grant: oci-image was the only mismatch, and there are now zero.
  • mise exec -- moon run root:check green.
  • Both workflow files parse.

The review process missed this because PR #7's CI runs on pull_request, and release.yml only runs on tags — the caller half is unreachable until a real release. I am adding the caller-ceiling audit to the standing per-PR method.

The v0.1.0 tag run failed at startup: 'The nested job oci-image is
requesting attestations: read, but is only allowed attestations: none'.
PR 2 added that permission to the callee in go-oci-build.yml, because the
composite's installed acquisition path runs gh attestation verify, but did
not raise the caller's ceiling in release.yml. A called workflow can never
request more than the calling job grants.

Consumer callers need the same grant, so the copyable example and the OCI
how-to now document it.
